Thanks for voting for Grey Night on Steam Greenlight!
Grey Night is a cinematic platformer with a dark atmospheric tone for Windows PC, inspired by the game Limbo. The story is about a man who, upon awakening from a car crash, realizes that his daughter is gone. He is in the middle of nowhere and the world is somehow different, it's full of evil creatures, he needs to find his daughter and protect her from those creatures before it’s too late. His daughter is everything he has in the world, and he is willing to fight till his last breath to protect her.
The game is single player, Gameplay includes solving puzzles, bossfights, and quicktime events, but there is no dialog to drive the story—the plot is powered by animation. This choice was intentional, I wanted to tell a dramatic, intense and sad story that touches your heart without using a single word, this is what makes Grey Night a very unique experience. In order to accomplish that I decided to make all the cut-scenes interactive, I want the player to really feel like he/she is the main character.
The game is still in Alpha, the base code of the game is ready, it's fully playable, all the footage from the trailer was recorded directly from the engine. A lot more features will be added in the next following months.
On the art side, I think it's okay at the moment, but I feel like this is the area where the game needs more attention, I need to improve the environments and the animations to make them more appealing without changing the style and feeling that it already has.
If I work full time on the game, I can improve all these things very fast and I'll be able to keep adding more awesome features, create new enemies, complete all the levels, boss fights, cut-scenes, etc.
Expected Release Date - Q2 2016
My name is Luis Contreras. I'm an artist and designer, I love to create art and animations. I started working in video games in 2011, but Grey Night (previously known as GetOut!) is my first big title under my belt. I have a passion for video games since I was a little kid, I fell in love with games playing Super Mario World when I was about 5 or 6 years old and I've been playing games ever since. My dream is to create video games for a living. I have a lot of great game ideas that I can't wait to share with the gaming community.
I've been developing Grey Night for over a year now in my spare time without any funds, working on freelance jobs during the day to keep myself going financially. But it is not working so well... sometimes I feel so tired and my eyes are so irritated that I just can't work on Grey Night for days.
If I keep working on Grey Night only on my spare time it would take me for ever to reach completion, that's why I'm asking for your support. In order to be able to work full time on Grey Night and make it the best possible game it can be, I really need financial assistance.
With your support, I'll be able to focus all my time and energy working on Grey Night, this means a more improved/polished game with more features and a better gaming experience for you the player, and of course I can release the game a lot sooner!
If we get enough funds, I could bring on board some colleagues to help me with a few aspects of the game. (art, levels, programming, environments, music, sounds, etc)
Where will the money go?

Risks and challenges
I'm sure there are many challenges ahead, actually there have been challenges since the very beginning of the development process, but I always find a solution for any problems I might encounter.
To be honest my biggest challenge is this campaign, getting people to support my project, I'm not sure what's the right thing to say or show... I just hope everything goes well.
If I was able to get this far without support and with very little time to work on the game, I feel like I can accomplish something really great if I get your support.
I already put so much effort, my heart and soul into this project and I'm going to overcome every challenge that comes in my way.
Please support Grey Night and help me make this project happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
