Tree63 is making a new album, for the first time in seven years!
John, Daniel and Darryl got together in Johannesburg, South Africa, early last year for a series of concerts and realized there was a lot of unfinished business. After years of pursuing individual projects, Tree63 have a new album of brand new songs to add to the band’s six-album canon.
When the band initially talked about the idea of making a new record, one of the first things discussed was how much the music industry has changed since the band’s last album, 2007’s “Sunday!”.
That last record was the final album of the band’s deal with InPop Records. This time around, Tree63 has the opportunity to release an independent record, taking advantage of all the benefits of being more free to make creative decisions.
However, the financial costs of making and releasing an independent record in 2015 make it important for Tree63 to reach out to you and ask for your help in making this new album a reality.
Like all our previous records, we want to create the best possible album we can for you. Recording costs these days make it a challenge: without a label, we have to pay for studio time, engineers, equipment and the all-important mixing and mastering processes… as well as photo shoots, artwork, printing costs and John’s hand-made Teflon-coated wigs. There’s even post-album stuff to consider, like PR, marketing and radio promotion.
That’s why we decided to create this album using a Kickstarter campaign.
With a $20,000 goal, after Kickstarter processing fees, running the Kickstarter campaign and getting all the rewards together, we will cover the recording fees, studio and engineer costs, and mixing & mastering. Any money we raise above our goal will allow us to share the record with a broader audience through marketing, radio, and pr. We also have some surprise stretch goals (like vinyl) that we'll unlock after we reach our goal!

Tree will play a private show for you, you'll need to provide sound and lights, but we can guarantee that it will be a rocking good time. If you're interested in booking Tree for a public ticketed event, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org
John Ellis' electric guitar used to record this album - an American Special Fender Telecaster. To see John playing it at Tree's first performance on American soil since 2008 click here. This guitar was purchased in Nashville exclusively for the recording of this album.
Risks and challenges
Some of the challenges we will face are in fulfillment, especially in case of a high volume. Everyone lives in different places; we have band members in three countries, two continents. Thankfully, we've created a organizational system to help manage things, despite being scattered throughout the world. We've also accounted for this in our fulfillment time and estimates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
