Trebbers is a highly detailed trebuchet kit.
What is a trebuchet?
A trebuchet is a medieval siege weapon that utilizes a counterweight to launch projectiles.
Why design another Trebuchet?
i designed a kit that has functionality, detail, and was affordable. The structure of my trebuchet highly resembles Viollet-le-Duc's (picture below)
The goal of this project is to raise enough money to produce laser cut trebuchet Kits. If the goal is reached, I will need to buy a laser cutter, mini lathe, and raw materials. $16,000 is just above the minimum amount to begin production.
Each Kit will include everything you need to build a trebuchet! These medieval siege weapons are fully functional. They have a working winch system similar to Viollet-le-Duc's.
No fancy tools are required. To assemble the trebuchet insert rivets and snap the pieces together. (a soft tap with a hammer will do)
- Launches pennies up to 30 feet. (with steel shot inside counterweight)
- Baltic Birch wood construction (stained brown)
- brass pulleys
- 30-60 minutes to assemble
- Base: 14 inches x 14 inches
How to assemble:
Each kit will come with instructions. There will be a video on how to assemble and operate it.
Each piece will be engraved with a unique letter/number. The pieces with corresponding letter/numbers go together. No skill is required. Super glue is optional (recommended).
The song in video is called The Time to Run (Finale) by: Dexter Britain.
Risks and challenges
The product in the video is a successful prototype. It fits together and works every time. Making the product will not be a challenge.
I can make all trebuchet kits within 2 months of having the equipment and materials. The laser cutter does most of the work.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
