Hello! And Thanks!
New Travis Oberg Project: Library Card
Over the past two years I’ve written new songs that I believe represent the best work I’ve done so far. I’d love to record these songs professionally and give them the best way to be heard. I need your help! Keep calm and read on.
These new songs are all stories. This creative project will be called “Library Card” and will include three volumes: fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Imagine stepping into a library and pulling books down as you browse. These songs are a handful of stories that range from documentary style bus trips, jaunts through the autumn woods, myths about eagles, sparkly poems, and even a murder mystery. I want this project to represent all-access to the favorite, quirky and diverse types of stories I enjoy. These are tales that you would pull off the shelf and thumb through: The Legend of Wandering Spirit, The Ballad of Darci Price, Red & Gold, The Summer of 1970, Jezebel, Book of Poems and others.
So Travis, why so much Moolah?
I’m glad you asked! 8,700 bucks may seem like a lot, but in reality it is only a fraction of the cost of a typical record. Record companies can spend upwards of $200,000 to make a project like this, but as an independent artist I’ve learned how to make the dollar s t r e t c h. I've already funded about 1/3 of this project. I need to come up with the rest. This money is going toward three common parts of making a record: Recording, Mixing/Mastering & Printing. Recording includes paying musicians, producers and engineers to track all the sounds on that make up the music. Mixing/Mastering is the process of making all the music sound really good. Printing is designing the 'look' and printing the artwork for the project. We can bring these all together and make this project happen.
Thanks for believing in my music and for helping to make something meaningful, artistic and beautiful. Again, It is sometimes taken for granted or turned cliché, but it is never so apparent as in this way: I could not survive without you. You mean the world to me.
Thank you Thank you Thank you,
