Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! If you have ordered at least 1 copy of Tortuga 1667 and would like to also receive Salem (an original edition copy of our 1st published game with all stretch goals from the Kickstarter, pictured in the "Past Projects" section), here’s what to do:
1. Increase your pledge by $25 x the number of Salem copies you would like. Do not change your reward level.
2. That’s it! We’ll confirm your add-on when we send out the backer surveys after the project is over.
The Salem add-on helps backers (especially international backers) who want both games save on shipping costs by including the game in their Tortuga 1667 package. Salem may be cheaper for backers in the USA, UK, and Canada through Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.ca. Like all of our copies of Salem, these add-ons include the stretch rewards from the Salem campaign.
Example 1: Susie already pledged $32 ($23 for 1 copy of Tortuga 1667 + $9 France shipping). If Susie increases her pledge to $57 ($32 original pledge total + $25 for 1 Salem add-on) we will send her 1 copy of Tortuga 1667 and 1 copy of Salem when rewards are sent out in August.
Example 2: Gerald already pledged $33 ($23 for 1 copy of Tortuga 1667 + $10 South Africa shipping). If Gerald increases his pledge to $83 ($33 original pledge + $50 for 2 Salem add-ons) we will send him 1 copy of Tortuga 1667 and 2 copies of Salem when rewards are sent out in August.

Yes. If you increase your pledge amount by $5 and have ordered at least 1 hard copy of the game, we will send you the Print-and-Play in March.
We'll be using a pledge manager program that you'll be able to use to tell us that you've purchased the add-on.Last updated:
Yes. The book box for Tortuga 1667 is bigger, and it uses 3 magnets instead of 2. Because of this, it stays closed and has plenty of room if you want to sleeve your cards. We love how it turned out.Last updated:
Yes! Right now we are looking for the best ways to do that. At the very least we'll have printable rules in several languages (French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian) on our website when the game is released.
You can also view rules in French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Turkish by visiting this link (http://facadegames.com/tortuga-1667/) and then clicking on your language.Last updated:
Several of our backers have asked if we could "fancy up" the pawns. We're not going to do this for several reasons.
1. We love the classic, simple look and feel of the current wooden pawns.
2. The pawns must remain small so that they can be shaken in the pouch during set-up and so that they can fit on the pawn spots on the playing board.
3. The pawns need to be bright and easily recognizable since each represents players moving around the board. Each pawn matches with one of the Brethren of the Coast cards in the game.
Backers are free to order their own Meeples, add bandanas or hats to the pawns, add stripes to the pawns, or age the wood of the pawns once they receive the game. But we're confident that once you start playing, you'll find that the pawns are just right.Last updated:

We are THRILLED with how the 2-3 player games worked when we tested them out. Think pirate chess with pistols and black spots :)Last updated:
After much consideration and play-testing, we decided that a better option for the rowboat token stretch goal is the explosion token. When setting up the game, some new groups were confused about if the rowboat tokens could move or not. When playing with the explosion token instead, there was no confusion, and it made more sense logistically.
We also made a minor rule change where Black Powder blows up one rowboat instead of both. This adds a bit more strategy when deciding which rowboat to eliminate.
Plus, we love how the explosion token looks on the board! If we reach $300K you can set a rowboat on fire!Last updated:
In each round of play, groups select 3 of the 8 game-changer cards to use in the game. That way, each game can have a bit of a different flavor depending on which game-changers are used, but the overall balance of the game is maintained since there are only 3 in each round.
We've thought carefully about each one and are happy that we're reaching stretch goals to get them in the game!Last updated:
We'll be adding a Player Actions list to the back of every Brethren of the Coast card. This will make it easier for players to quickly see what they can do on each of their turns. We'll also be re-visiting the graphic design on the front of these cards to make them look even better - this may involve turning the pawn silhouettes into ink splots, wax stamps, or burns into the wood. We'll keep everyone involved in this process even after the campaign ends :)Last updated:
