"I wisely started with a map." - J.R.R. Tolkien

And to make a great map, you need a great cartographer.

Welcome Mike Schley to the Morningstar adventure! For those of you who don't know Mike, may I suggest a peek here and here. Yeah, that Mike Schley!

A map builder has always been an integral part of our design for the Forge. As life-long gamemasters, we understand the struggle to make engaging maps for adventures and campaigns. From paper and pencil to advanced CAD software, the task is a challenging one for most of us.

Our goal is a simple map building module - tile-based - with overlays that allow even the most artistically-challenged GM to create a great looking, printable map quickly. To do that, we needed the best cartographer in fantasy gaming.

Mike will be designing and illustrating our map tile sets. He will also be working with the design and development team to make our map builder interface simple and intuitive. We are stoked!

Pledge at the Forge level to get access to all the mapmaking goodies! Your players will thank you!

Cheers,

Chris Matney

I have always been a fan of maps in books. It gives a sense of anticipation as the characters visit different parts of the map and you watch lands and cultures and characters unfold. From Tolkien to Goodkind to Jordan to Hamilton...it is the map that adds a new dimension to the exploring of strange worlds.

Hey Will! Great question. If you use Mike's tiles to make maps for adventures you publish in the store, you would NOT have to pay the artist to use them. Anything that is part of Morningstar will be available for you to use in your creative process without having to worry about stuff like that ;)

      Hope this helps!

That's awesome! The coolest feature yet, I'd say!

I did have one question, regarding rights. Your video mentions publishing and selling adventures on the in-app store; can we sell adventures that include maps we made with these tiles? Would we have to pay the artist(s) to use them?

Basically, if we do use this map to create an adventure, can we still publish to the store? Or even outside the store, now that I think about it.

Just curious. Either way, sounds great!
