We've had so much fun making music...
... and playing it to people around the globe, that we thought we ought to share some of our memories with everyone else. Unfortunately we were having so much fun that we forgot to take many photos!
Never mind we thought, we'll get our friend Andrew Rae to illustrate a book of our adventures, and we'll put it out with loads of the tunes that we've written together.
So that's what we're doing.
What exactly is this project?...
..... It's a book of 20 illustrated postcards, each one depicting a chapter in the history of Transparent Sound. Contained in the book will be 2 CDs, filled with the best tracks we've recorded over the last 18 years. So essentially, it's a best of compilation, but it comes with a fantastic book to enjoy whilst listening to the music.
Who are Transparent Sound & Andrew Rae?...
Transparent Sound are Martin Brown and Orson Bramley - we've been making electronic music together since 1994, you can find out more about us on our website , follow us on Twitter , have a listen on Soundcloud or you can have a look on youtube .
This is a tune called Variations of An Attitude with superb animation by filmmaker Adam Aiken and illustrator Eleanor Meredith.
Andrew Rae is an illustrator and member of the illustration collective Peepshow. Check out his website which showcases a selection of his drawings and things. You can also follow him on twitter: @DrewRae Andrew has worked for many worldwide clients in advertising, print, publishing and animation, and is currently based in London. Andrew has worked with us for many years on various projects - he's the man behind our logo, and is also responsible for the artwork on Orson's record label releases.
We've always believed in releasing our own music...
... and since we started recording together in 1994, that's exactly what we've done. However, producing underground electronic music has never been about making a stack of money, it's about having a passion for music, and in our case getting excited about new machines to try and make noises with.
So this is where Kickstarter and all of you like minded people come in. We need to raise enough money to get the tracks re-mastered and to manufacture the finished package.
Our project is already well under way, the music has been compiled, and the drawings have been finished. We even have a distributor interested, so as soon as we reach our target, we can get the presses rolling and the CDs burning and get this wonderful collaboration out there for all to see.
Thanks very much....
for taking the time to look at our project, and thanks in advance if you decide to pledge some money. We can't express enough how much we'd like to get this project out!
Risks and challenges
We're old hands at getting music released, and as the bulk of the creative work has already been done, we cant really envisage any problems. As long as the printer, badge maker, t-shirt printer and cd manufacturer can all provide the services they say they can, what could possibly go wrong?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
