Have a question?
@Colin: The most recent video on Youtube (alpha footage, not the final trailer yet) says “coming soon” at the end of the video. In the comments it says “Currently in Alpha Testing as of November 2017, the expected release date is February or March 2018.”
(BTW in the video there is some screen tearing in the hallway scene, but that is an artifact of capturing the video, it’s confirmed in the comments that it does not happen in the game).
Hi just noticed the hero u trailer which says its coming soon this month. I am really looking forward to playing this game.
MadJo: Yikes! I didn't see that you had requested a key. Check your email for the key and instructions.
If anyone else has not received their Quest for Glory, Jolly Rover, or MacGuffin's Curse key, or if you can't find it, please send email to support (at) Hero-U (dot) net and I'll track it down.
Ben: Your wish is granted - I just posted an update.
No videos this time. I just need to figure out the tools and make one - problem with no marketing department. At Sierra, they did all that for us. :-)
@MadJo: I got mine months (if not a year) ago. Go here and enter your Kickstarter email address, and see if there are digital rewards waiting for you:
I was looking through my backerkit stuff, and I remembered that your project was still ongoing. One of the rewards I purchased through Backerkit was a GoG-key for Quest for Glory. When will these be sent out? Before or after the game is released?
Is it ok to ask for another status update? How is Alpha/pre-Alpha testing coming along? I would really like to see some "moving pictures". Also I don´t see any advertisement on gog.com or steam so how does your current timetable look like?
Lawson, yes, in the update. We've had a testable version for a month, but it's taken a while to build in the automated reporting system and fix some bugs that it told us about.
Any word on Alpha and Beta testing?
Keep up the great work!!
Hope all is well! Keep working hard!
Awesome! Can't wait until this game is released... the QFG series was one of my favorites and I look forward to seeing what you've done with Hero-U.
New update is posted 28 March 2017. Alpha and Beta testing are coming!
Looking forward to next update!
Hope everything is going well. Looks like we are buying a new home soon and I have a downstairs wall that I cant wait to put my print on :-) Blessings to you!
Happy New Year... well almost, but hope you all are enjoying a great holiday and looking forward to playing Rogue to Redemption in 2017... must admit I am looking forward to it the most next year!
Thought this might be of interest to people here...Quest for Glory 1-5 is now on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/502750/
Hey there friends I hope all is going well! Keep up the good work!
Yah, sorry Dablue (and other backers). I started an update in late May with a Memorial Day theme, decided it was too controversial and generally not working, and went through four or five more drafts before posting the current one. In the meantime, we had Orlando, Baton Rouge, Dallas, etc., all events that tied in with my original post. I might go back to that at some point for the hero-u.com site, but it wasn't enough about the game for here. Anyway, new update posted. Any ideas for a theme for the next one?
Time for an update? Was thinking about this project the other day , hence my question.
Caleb - Did you get an email notification of the new update I just published? The previous one was two months ago due to a family emergency (don't worry - it turned out to be much less of a big deal than it at first appeared). I was a little too distracted to post one last month.
Hey there! Just wanted to say I haven't been getting updates emailed to me. Hopefully we can get that fixed :) glad to see progress is going well. Thanks for all your hard work on the game. I'm confident its gonna be great and look forward to getting my hands on it
Understood. It's never an easy thing to make a game especially one that is so open-ended.
Lim Yeow Seng: Hero-U needs a lot more than polishing. It will be out this year for certain, but isn't close to beta yet. I plan to do a new update this weekend with details. We've added a writer, and are adding a programmer. In the meantime, we're redoing some of the background art that wasn't up to the standard of the newer scenes. It's a huge, complex process.
Hey there, Mr. Cole! Are we still expecting the game to be ready next month or does it still need some polishing?
No, you're fine, Maxwell. The difference is whether you want two copies of the game (one from each pledge) or if you want additional add-ons. I assume most people who supported both campaigns either decided to make a gift to the project, wanted to upgrade to a higher tier, or wanted to order additional rewards.
Question for anybody: With all the past suggestions that we should "collapse" our two Hero-U backerkit surveys (for those that have two), it's something I've never done. Why? Because I was afraid I would mess something up and I figured I should leave well enough alone.
As far as I know, both of my backerkit things in relation to Hero-U are filled in properly. Do I need to do anything else beyond that? Or am I messing things up by default simply because I still have the two separate backerkit surveys related to Hero-U?
Perfect, sounds like a plan. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed them yet. Thanks, you guys! (For everything!)
Ramon, we sent out GoG codes to everyone who ordered games prior to this year's Kickstarter. We need to figure out which ones are new orders and send them out. I hope to get that done this week along with uploading posters and concept art. You'll get your code by email.
I may have missed it somewhere but did GOG codes go out to those who bought them already?
Uhhh so I guess I missed a ton of emails. I just updated my survey now :( I added a whole bunch of addons - is it too late for that?
That's roughly correct. The actual number was somewhere between $11-12K.
I saw the stretch goal meter was updated on the web page, does that mean that only 10k was raised from end of kickstarter to final backerkit date?
@Psychonauts: You are basically correct, except that the add-on does not include the t-shirt, art book, bestiary, digital copy of the game, etc. Staying on the $80 pledge and adding $100 will get you the same things as the $200 pledge minus the t-shirt, and plus the second copy of the game in DVD case.
In actuality, we may decide to upgrade the DVD cases to full boxed games (but without the keychains, lucky coin, music CD, etc.) - it will be a question of production cost since it's very expensive to make a "short run" of a small number of cases.
All pledges are really contributions to development of the game - the prices do not reflect the market value of the physical goods - most of the cost goes to programming and art.
The Premium Collector's Edition Boxed Copy of Hero-U Add-on doesn't make any sense. It only cost $100 to add it but the pledge level for collector's edition is $200. I am not sure if you are aware, I could change my pledge level to $0 and then add Collector's Edition add-on and only pay $100 for it. Even if I keep my $80 pledge and add the add-on It would still be cheaper than $200 pledge. Not only that I would get 2 copies of the game.
As much I would love to trade-in my $80 pledge for more physical goods, I don't think it would be fair to everyone who pledged $200 or more and to you. Although can't say I wasn't tempted XD
I would think the add-on would have to be limited to people who pledged $200 above for their 2nd collector's edition copy or that the add-on price should be $200
@Erithan: Yes, Lori and I will autograph the postcards.
@Kay: Sorry for the delay. T-shirt sizes are Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), Extra-Large (XL), then 2XL and 3XL. I don't recall whether we're offering a 4XL - check BackerKit.
Not sure if it's been asked, but since it's never been specified are the autographed postcards well er autographed by you and Lori? (pardon any spelling errors, late here).
Is there any info on T-shirt sizes available? Sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find any information about it.
When I collapsed my new onto the old, everything was just fine, still had all my add-ons. It was when I went to upgrade it from Master Rogue to Immortal Image that it wiped out every add-on I had from before, including School Spirit and others.
@Rata: Thanks for the info about the hat. That was my error filling in the forms - I'll fix it this weekend.
Ref the yearbook, my misunderstanding of how their survey question system works - there's just one yearbook entry per backer (and it's no longer offered as an add-on).
Headstones are also no longer available - did you collapse into your original (2012) pledge? That should have left your add-ons intact.
BackerKit wasn't really designed for some of the things we're doing with it. They are doing a great job of helping us resolve the inevitable issues of merging four different types of pledges.
Also, the description of the hat add on says that it includes postage, but the backer kit is charging me $10. Is that a glitch or did something change?
Question. I got a Headstone as an add-on with my original pledge, but I don't see that as an option now. Did that disappear somewhere or is it in a different section of the backer survey?
Also, it's showing that I have 2 yearbook images for some reason but I really only need 1. Do I need to do something to have you ignore the second one?
My BackerKit account has been fixed, therefore I've been able to complete the survey, thanks :-)
By the way, it's currently very difficult for me to find time for playing video games, but I'm still having a blast discovering Hero's Quest and writing a log about my adventure in Gloriana. I'll make a quick report here when I finish it.
@Corey. Okay, I tried it again...and I guess everything is okay? I somehow ended up with $10 in credit after selecting my add-ons (not sure where that came from...) Please let me know if everything looks okay on your end now. And thanks for the help! You guys rock. :)
Ok, I marked all of the 2012 campaign tiers as upgradeable. That should fix some of the problems. But yes, if you backed both campaigns, please collapse the new one into the old one. We raised prices on many tiers in the 2015 campaign and we do not want to charge more to our 2012 backers.
In fact, in general, if BackerKit says you owe money (unless you are ordering more add-ons), that's probably an error and you should report it to email@example.com. Thanks for your understanding; this is a difficult and complex process.
@Justin: I still see you as having two separate pledges. You can use the "Collapse Pledges" button to combine them. You are definitely getting a copy of the game, confusing as it might appear. (I may simply interpret "Upgrade" as "Includes a copy of Hero-U", since it seems to be listed as Upgrade.)
@Kattie90: I guess the add-on info was lost in collapsing the old and new pledges. I manually added it and a $2 credit to make your account balance (because we raised the pre-order price to $20 from $18 after you ordered it).
Why does a Pledge Amount of $50 (as stated on the BackerKit page) become a Credit of $48 when it comes to choose an item ? Has anyone an explanation about that ? Thanks in advance.
Ohhh, I see. My name was recorded as "Kevin S Cheapskate of the AGL589" LOL
