About this project
It’s a familiar story. You’ve heard it before. A group of friends head off for a weekend escape, to a cabin by the lake, in a quaint sleepy town, just a few hours north of the city. But as night falls, what was meant to be an amorous filled weekend, quickly turns into a hellish nightmare. A crazed maniac is slicing and dicing his way through the unsuspecting party. You shield your eyes thinking “Don’t go in there. Don’t go in the barn.” You can’t believe the obvious missteps these foolish kids are making. You would never make such careless mistakes. But then again, you start to wonder, “Would I survive?”
Crimson Creek is an homage to 80's slasher films. It is a 2-6 player semi-cooperative pocket horror deduction game that takes 30-45 minutes to play. Where players run to safe locations, peek from hiding places, and search for clues all while trying to survive the blade of The Hatchetman.
The object of the game is to stay alive until morning, while figuring out which suspect is possessed by Klein aka The Hatchetman.
Morning arrives after 3 Acts are completed. An Act is a single round consisting of 3 scenes. An Act ends when Klein’s starting location (also known as Klein’s lair) has been revealed. In each scene, players move around the locations and acquire information to avoid The Hatchetman and discover his lair.
Players are allowed up to 2 actions each turn. The 7 possible actions are:
- RUN - Move your character to a new location.
- PEEK - Privately view a location card.
- HIDE - Find a hiding place.
- SHARE - Privately share information you have acquired.
- SEARCH - Examine a location for clues.
- ABILITY - Each character has a unique special ability.
- DECLARE - Announce the location of Klein’s lair.
Information is not only deduced by examining cards, information is also deduced by studying other player’s actions. But on occasion those actions cannot be trusted. There is always the possibility that, during the game, one of the players may learn that they are the one possessed by The Hatchetman. And if you are possessed by The Hatchetman, you only win if everyone else is eliminated.

Rahdo Runs Through
“This is a very very clever game. Hugely Atmospheric. You are going to have a devilishly good time.”
“Crimson Creek packed a heck of a lot of game into such a tiny box and I think it works. In this day and age of all these hidden identity games this one has a chance to stand out in the crowd.”
Board Game Brawl
“There are a lot of interesting things going on in Crimson Creek. It is going to appeal to anyone who likes cooperative games, semi-cooperative games, horror movies, people who like hidden roles and deduction, there's a little bit of every one of those things in this game.”
Risks and challenges
We believe Crimson Creek is a tabletop game that gamers will love. And we would like to get a copy into the hands of anyone who agrees. So we have set a base funding goal of $1000 which will allow us to print on demand professionally produced 305gsm black core cards for the game. If we reach the first stretch goal of $5000 we will be able to upgrade the cards to 320gsm linen and have them manufactured by Wingo or Panda Games.
Depending on the final funding level we will ship the games either by USPS, Amazon FBA or directly fulfilled from the manufacturer. And if funding reaches the $5000 stretch goal we hope to offer EU friendly shipping. Alternatively, the value of the game will be listed at $12 or $19, matching the reward level you choose, which is below the minimum threshold for Import duty and VAT to be charged in many countries.
Crimson Creek has been thoroughly playtested and 100% of the artwork has already been completed. The deliverables needed to begin manufacturing will be handed off to the manufacturer as soon as the campaign ends. We are confident that all of the planning and preparation we have done for the design, the development, the manufacturing, and the shipping of this game will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all of our backers. And it is our promise to keep you updated with details of all manufacturing and shipping developments as soon as we learn about them. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you as one of our backers. We cannot produce this game without you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
