Fabric, Machines, and Events!
A little progress report of November and December, 2011:
The process of creating the Spring 2012 collection is well under way. There is much more to come, but here's a taste of what I was able to accomplish so far:
Material sourcing: I took a trip to New York to meet with vendors, and to source the fabrics and materials for this season. This is a sample of what you might find on the 15th floor of a building in the fashion district.
Meet my Juki straight stitch and Siruba overlock machines: I've been able to upgrade from the home sewing machine I've been using to these two industrial grade machines. That means now I can sew leather, denim, jersey, chiffon; from heavy-weight to light-weight, these machines will help produce garments at a much higher quality!
Retro Glam Night in Panama: I attended the Retro Glam Night event in Panama with a great photographer friend of mine, Maria Gibbs. The event was a success and TOXO-PHILITE is now carried in a design shop in Panama, Diablo Rosso!
Sample pieces: Work on sample pieces has begun! I'm testing out dyeing methods and fabric painting styles to create custom-made colors and patterns.
The next few months will be quite busy in my little studio as I prepare for the fashion show in March! Many more updates to come!
Thanks for making this possible!!
