About

Lone Wolf Films is developing: The Cataclysm - a science-fiction thriller film. Once funds has been raised we will be ready for production!
How do you plan to finish it?

Finish screenplay (3 months).

Pre production (another 3 months) $127,500 is needed to cover casting call etc.

Shoot schedule is around 12 months.

Post Production will take approximately 3 to 4 months.

Any extra raised will go toward the following:

Production expenditure like outside shoot, set development, sound stage rent, cast, crew, music rights, director's fee, post production, set aside funds for contingency, film insurance, bank interest and of course distribution costs and good and service tax.

Our budget is expected to be $14 million, less bank loan of $3.8 means we need to raise a further $10.2 million.

Why are you writing it?

Back in 1999 I had an on-set accident while filming a scene from "Escape from LA" in Sydney Australian, and I was almost blown up by a faulty trigger mechanism and then in 2006, I had a motorcycle accident and after a dream in 2010 it drove me back into writing once again.

The films working title is, but it's a scifi disaster thriller. Team of ex-soldiers onboard an experimental starship find a disused platform in orbit around the star Vega. They soon come under attack by an unknown group of aliens whom end up destroying Earth and its solar system. But they're not a where there's a time agent in the solar system.

What is the film?

The Cataclysm – is a science-fiction thriller film set in the year is 2061.

Former Captain Mark Diller is a man not to be tangled recently retired from ten years in the army and now works as a security consultant for a privately owned high-tech research company based south of his home in a nearby New Zealand provincial city of Palmerston North walks out of building one but before hoping in to his car a white four door city type car he looks around the facility surrounded by high security fences and partly surrounded by various warehouses and an old factory to its rear. Satisfied all was ok hops into his car once past the security gate a quick nod to the guard in the booth and after a few minutes pulls into his driveway on entering his house kisses his wife of ten years on right cheek they eat a meal each, watches some television since both had to head into work early settled in for the night. Later the following day as Mark sits at desk his phone sings and sings. Realizing it was his boss, his boss informs him he is to head upstairs right away hanging his phone up Mark saunters into his boss’ office. As Mark enters his boss indicates to a chair in front of his desk. He sits while Shawn asks him to organize security for the engine test tomorrow. Hands piece of paper to him. Mark nods his approval Shawn without a word spoken waves Mark off walking back to his own office and with his phone in his right hand phones a contact at a security agency. The men agree to a time -call ends-. Mark then presses a button of the phone’s terminal screen and after a monument his boss appears in front of his display screen and informs him the guys will arrive in the morning. The boss loves that idea. Mark informs him he’ll get Alex to load everything in to truck and they’ll head out 5:30am tomorrow morning. Call ends Mark’s head pops up from his monitor’s screen hears heavy footsteps heading in the direction of his office. A security guard almost out of breath with a look of concern on his face walks briskly into his office and tells him there’s a white van out the back of our facility. Mark on his way outside grabs binoculars from shelf, security guard follow him along hallway and outside via side door both men scamper over to a nearby wall he zooms in to take a closer look. No markings all windows bar driver’s window are dark. He notices the guy looks familiar? Takes photo of man and sends photo to his computer. The driver spot something in the distance as a dark hair man head appears over the top of the wall closes window turns around and drives away, both men return inside the building by they had come from.

Camera picks up Mark entering his office.

Inside the large warehouse the boss and Alex are testing the core device and when a man runs at a brisk pace from the smaller warehouse he crashes into an invisible wall. After getting to his feet he waves his arms in the air but nothing is there. He then races into the larger warehouse; Alex immediately realizes what he is on about it the core device. It is now three months later and the team is now finishing off the construction of a space craft similar to the mini shuttles. The roll it out onto a large landing two men and two woman climb a ladder to board once seated the engines fire up the ship rises into the air and takes off at speed into orbit. On it return the test crew disembark walks over to the boss and report not one single issue with the ship at all.

Several months pass and the boss’ team has finished building to landing ships, the boss along with Alex and three of his fellow scientists and Marks own security personnel all onboard the ships they take off and head into orbit, where a large experiment starship was waiting for them to arrive. They one by one dock with the ship it then activate the core device the shield twists space and then a energy beam comes out the front of the ship, which opens up an artificial wormhole. After an hour’s travel the ship enters the star system Vega they soon find an old alien abandon space platform but after landing on a landing platform they come under attack by an unknown alien entity, out to recover gold and platinum stored in a large but secure vault.

The aliens after losing the fire fight backs off and return to their ship heads to Earth land near an army base in the North Island an executive order arrives and the local base commander sends out tanks and soldiers to investigate the alien ship parked on a nearby hill side as they approach the craft opens fire destroying server army vehicles, they return fire as flames rise all round the ship once dissipated the alien ship is totally unharmed. The ship flies high into the air leaving a white gleaming object on the ground but before anyone could investigate the device, it glows and after a few moments the device explodes destroying the Earth and then the entire solar system.

Back at the platform one man looking at a display screen taps his commander on his shoulder the both of them see the supernova explosion the pack up and return to the solar system but Earth is gone - only thing left is a beautiful nebular. The AI pops up and informs the ship’s commander he has found a unknown vessel in the nebular. They bring the ship on board and after entering the ship they find a woman inside a protected area. On freeing her she informs them about the aliens and that she is a ‘Time Guardian’. Her ship was damaged by the explosion and the gold and platinum on her ship which is need for time travel is damaged beyond repair. Only avenue now is to return to the alien platform, retrieve the material and reconfigure their ship for time travel. First thing they have to do is locate the aliens who destroyed Earth and its solar system recover the alien device before they manage to set off an explosion, then with the help of the time guardian agent return to the present locate the alien’s home world and delivery the device back to them.

The Team

Geri Townsley

Palmerston North artistic writer/filmmaker Geri Townsley is known for her creative writing and filmmaking talent. She once worked in the movie industry, primarily based in Sydney Australia. This has meant her skills are still great even after being out of the industry for a while. She was offered a three movie deal which ballooned out to a six movie deal, including:

Brian Brown's movie 'Two Hands'. When Heath Ledger & myself had arrived a bit late at Avalon Beach in Sydney, Australia I rushed to the sea and scooped up a handful of salt water after drinking it. Heath said. "For the life of me, I've never seen anyone doing that before."

If you want to know who came up with the idea of breaking open the safe in the movie "The Score," well it was me. We sealed the door with a product called Knead It (made by Selleys), Bob used a thermic lance to cut a hole in the middle of the safe, he filled it with water, and soon afterwards he inserted a detonator. Backing off with a remote his right hand, he then flicked a switch, whoosh the door blew off, and everyone on set was amazed!

William (Bill) Donachie

His background consists of more than 20 years of experience in engineering, and he is our production engineer he also due to his welding and engineering skills acts as a grip.

Risks and challenges

Geri says: These days it is always a challenge to make a full length feature film especially for myself or even major studios. My plan in order to reduce risks is to shoot my movie in the Manawatu and Rangitikei regions.

So when it comes time to make my movie we will be filming scenes in Longburn, Manawatu, plus we will be leasing a warehouse space right here in Palmerston North. Plus we are looking at leasing land and two buildings also in the Longburn, Manawatu region which is only 10 minutes travel from Palmerston North.

The special effects used in this film, will be largely engineered by Sir Peter Jackson company whom have skills in make props used in films they will help us to deliver the most masterful effects. Peter also went to school with my brother Bill too.

In the past I worked on various films like Dark City, The Limey, The Score and also on Brian Brown's movie 'Two Hands'.
