Microscape's second city is the Second City.
We make little models, but we make no little plans. So our next step toward Microscaping the world is a city with colossal architectural and urban planning significance. We'd like to think Daniel Burnham would approve (and perhaps even become a backer...)
Microscape models are detailed, 1:5000 scale replicas of cities. They're 3D-printed from our own accurate, up-to-date aerial scan data, meaning that they can evolve along with the built environment. Because we manually process all of that data to make it printable, they can also include buildings still under construction or still in planning.
Our various reward tiers let you choose the quantity of models you'd like (or t-shirts or bags). After the close of our campaign, backers will receive a survey allowing you to choose exactly which model(s) we'll be sending you. Some of the models you'll be able to choose from are pictured below.
Higher resolution photos of all available models and a searchable, interactive map can be found on the Microscape website. (Click on shaded grid squares on the map to get details on that model -- click through for additional information and photos.)
Backers will receive a complete, detailed product guide to help in making their final selection at the successful close of the campaign.
Want to know which model a specific street address or other point of interest falls on? Use the searchable map on the Microscape website to find out -- and to get more detailed information on all of the different models available as rewards.
Risks and challenges
This isn't our first rodeo. Ok, it's only our second. But we learned a lot from the first one and can say with confidence that we'll once again deliver rewards on time.
The one significant problem we did run into after our first campaign was shipping damage -- particularly with models going overseas. Our new packaging (introduced a few months ago and used for all outgoing Manhattan Collection orders since then) takes care of this very effectively and has all but eliminated this problem.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
