Train Heist is a cooperative board game of rightin' wrongs and robbin' trains. In Train Heist, 2 to 4 players take the role of a band of cowboys who work together to stop the corrupt Sheriff and the rich folks of Notting County from stealing all of the townsfolk's earnings. Unlike a traditional board game with a set path and place to go, Train Heist uses a free-range board where players can go anywhere they need to get the job done. It also uses a unique game mechanic that causes the train to move around the board and load up new cargo and passengers, all while triggering random hectic events. Featuring a special three-suit Poker Deck, players use hands of cards to loot the train, race their horse across Crackpot Canyon to deliver the goods, all while earning reputations and special abilities that will stick with them until the end of the game! If the townsfolk keep running out of loot to pay the Sheriff, it could be game over. Reach the right amount of loot before the Event Deck runs out and the train skips town to win! In Train Heist, you must think ahead and work together to achieve victory!
The difficulty is entirely scalable in Train Heist, so all board gamers will enjoy the levels of challenge Train Heist offers!
The idea for Train Heist began back in November 2012, and has since been in development for 2 years. Much time and testing has gone into the design of this game to make sure it can be placed beside co-op greats such as Pandemic, Flash Point, or Castle Panic. In fact, if you love those games but want just a pinch more depth you will definitely love Train Heist!
Board game enthusiasts; finally, a train-themed co-op game to add to your collection!
The following is a brief example of how a player performs their turn:

This Train Heist campaign is our second Kickstarter after the successfully funded table top racing game Krash Karts. Through this previous experience we were able to get a grasp of the entire process from funding, to manufacturing, to fulfillment, and are now ready to ramp things up with a much bigger game featuring even higher quality components. Here is what we will be doing during this Kickstarter based on feedback from cherished backers like you:
-Train Heist will feature High Quality Components: Using WinGo as a manufacturer, Train Heist will feature thick punchboards loaded with tokens, special custom Cowboy and Horse pieces that interact (the cowboys can actually mount and ride on the horse), and we linen-finished everything that can possibly be linen-finished (that's a good thing)! Plus much more. We figure, why mess around? Upon funding, we will bring you a high quality and complete product right off the bat, with Stretch Goals improving components even further.
-Train Heist uses commissioned art from very talented artists: From the beautiful box art and the truly eye-catching board featuring an amazingly detailed train, Train Heist's art is a sight to behold! Featuring art from Petur Antonsson, Atticus Astikatus, and María José Barros.
-Train Heist will feature a detailed rulebook: With Train Heist we will include many diagrams and examples demonstrating the different aspects of the rules, as well as feature hired editors. You can preview the latest edition of the rulebook here.

What People are Saying About Train Heist:
"Train Heist is a very good family-style cooperative game that is lovely in its execution."
Andrew, Cards and Chit:
"I enjoyed this one. It was fun; it was thematic; everything worked really well."
Dave Taylor, To The Table:
"A good cooperative game will kick your butt, but you still enjoyed it and you want to play it again. I think that Train Heist does a good job with that, and I'm really pleased with how this game has turned out."
"Overall, I REALLY, REALLY like this game. I'm SO pleased with how far it's come. Really high praises for Train Heist. I am super, super pleased."
Matthew Robinson, Broken Prism Reviews:
"Go to the Kickstarter page, and seriously consider backing this."
What People Have Said About Krash Karts:
Scott Laughlin, Krash Kart Backer:
"After a few games, I can report that it's solid fun for the whole family. There's enough strategy to keep serious gamers involved, while light enough to engage kids. At our house, we have a 5-point rating system from "two thumbs down" to "two thumbs up". Krash Karts got a near unanimous two thumbs up."
Jeff Moore, Krash Kart Backer and blogger of Dreams and Dragons:
"We only played once, but things felt really balanced. Everyone has said that they'd like to play again! If you like competitive modular games with a decent amount of strategy that's easy to play, I would recommend this game. If you love Mario Kart as I do, I would really really recommend this game. The game and theme here are perfectly presented."
Matthew Robinson, Broken Prism Reviews
"A lot of attention to detail. It's clear this designer wants to do this. This is something he's passionate about. It's very exciting and I look forward to other games from him in the future."

Risks and challenges
The risks are minor. The game is done, it's established, and it's refined through years of development and playtesting. Manufacturing and fulfillment have already been arranged. The challenge will be drawing enough of the right attention to the game so that we can reach our goal.
Once our goal has been reached everything will come together quickly and efficiently. Manufacturing does take time though, so we will be able to deliver the games to you in a reasonable period of time. We look forward to fulfilling your orders!
Question and Answer:
Q: Who will be handling the manufacturing?
A: WinGo Game Manufacturing.
Q: Who will be handling fulfillment?
A: Amazon for the USA, Spiral Galaxy will likely handle UK/Euro fulfillment, and I will personally handle fulfillment in Canada.
Q: Are you Sean MacDonald, designer of The Crow and the Pitcher?
A: No, I'm Sean McDonald, not MacDonald. Our first and last name are very common, but we are not the same person.
Q: Why offer an 'Early Backer Bonus'?
A: Though we may have established a good backer community from our previous KS, we're still fairly new to the board game scene. Early backers are incredibly important in demonstrating to others that this game is going to be supported and funded. Additionally, we are aiming for a loftier goal in order to bring a higher quality product to you right as soon as the game is funded. This means we greatly need starting momentum early in the campaign. No matter how good a product is, if potential backers don't see support for it they in turn will likely pass right by it as the campaign matures. Our hope is that backers that missed out on this Early Backer Bonus offer understand this, and do not feel left out by knowing our intention is not to upset them but merely to get the game to them. We acknowledge that your pledge is supporting the campaign to a greater degree, and we truly thank you for it.
Q: Can Train Heist be played solo, with just one player?
A: Though the game is designed with 2-4 players in mind, like most co-operative board games it can be played solitaire. Special 'Solo Play' punchboard tokens will be included that will assist players in playing a mock 2-4 player game by themselves, playing as all characters. The tokens will be color-coordinated to match the cowboy pieces, so that Poker Hands and Loot/Bullet Tokens can be kept in order, and will be numbered so player order can be kept track of.
Q: Will your Stretch Goals eventually add anything to the game itself?
A: Future Stretch Goals, should funding continue, will include further component upgrades such as box or insert upgrades, etc. No more game components will be added, but merely upgraded. We want to make our backers aware the game they are receiving upon funding is already a complete and high quality game. We will not cancel the project merely because it doesn't reach a certain Stretch Goal we had in mind initially, as is a recent trend on Kickstarter. That would be a highly dishonest and deceitful method of tricking backers into thinking they're getting more game for their dollar by using Stretch Goals, when in reality the Stretch Goals are adding necessary components always intended for the game. Tower Guard Games does not condone this and feels this harms the Kickstarter community and crowd-funding in general, and that is why we want to be forthright and honest to our backers in this regard.
Q: Why did you use animals over humans?
A: A game's art should represent the nature of the game. Elements of the game lend themselves to a more exaggerated, almost cartoon-like view of the American "Wild West", and thus the game wasn't meant to take itself seriously (i.e. at points during the game the train leaves the board and pops out on the other side). To avoid gamers approaching this game in that manner and being disappointed, I decided to have a more light- hearted approach to the art, while keeping a gritty feel. This gives a good general context to those approaching this game for the first time. That said, if given enough demand, who knows what the future brings?
