We will produce some truly unique memorabilia from the Great American Solar Eclipse 2017.
We are travelling to specific coordinates in Kentucky to ensure the greatest coverage of complete totality and to get the best possible material.
With expert skills (photography, video, sound design) and top-end equipment we are confident we will produce quality products, some of which may one day be collector's items!
Available memorabilia include:
- Ltd Edition Photographic Flip Book
- Photographic Prints (XS, L, XXL, sequenced)
- Stock Video Footage (4K)
- Bird Song Symphony (WAV/MP3)
- Shadow Bands Capture (4K)
One significant aspect of the project is our plan to capture super high res imagery of the phenomenon known as ‘shadow bands’, nobody quite knows why this phenomenon happens or what it is, and there currently exists no high definition example of it online. Help us bring a detailed recording of this to the world!
We are film makers, and the assets we secure during this project will be valuable items for film makers around the world, think gorgeous stock footage, high res imagery and astounding audio which you can use in your personal work, along with selected audio recordings of the natural madness that surrounds such a celestial event.
For those of you interested in physical items we are also going to produce beautiful signed photographic prints, including frames from the eclipse and also a composite that shows all phases in one print. What better thing to have on your wall than the Sun and the moon!
Furthermore we will produce a luxurious flip book which you can use to view the eclipse in the style of old school cinema. It will feature details of the event, past and future eclipses, and for those of you who choose an advertising reward, will feature your brand names and/or logo. The initial run will be a limited edition and any future publications of this book will also feature Kickstarter advertisers details.
During an eclipse wildlife goes crazy, the birds in particular, they go haywire because they think it’s suddenly night time and then everything goes very quiet. Once the sun comes out again there is an ecstatic release and from these three stages we will produce an audio track which we call a: “3 stage symphony of sorts”.
So what do we need to shoot this thing?
Well we have everything we need in terms of cameras and equipment, apart from some specialist lenses that we will need to rent, and possibly a telescopic equatorial mount. Some costs will go toward travel expenses and rental costs, but most of the funds will be used to create the physical items we are offering.

Risks and challenges
We will use a complex set-up, with at least 3 cameras and 1 telescope, plus multiple microphones in nearby forests. To follow the trajectory of the sun, we will use automated gear. A drone is also available. With all this equipment, there is always a risk that something fails or just won't cooperate.
We have a combined 25+ years of experience of all things digital, so we know how to fix most issues. The idea of having multiple cameras is also a safety measure - ie if one fails, we have backup footage.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
