I'm raising money to make my 3rd full-length album Toss Your Javelin, scale my whole operation up, and enter the next stage of my career as a songwriter and recording artist. As I get into my 30's, I intend to take all of the valuable lessons learned in the testing grounds of my teens and 20's (about 15 years of experience) and synchronize them into this piece of art and put it on a big platform. To step into the arena on the national level, here's what I need:
- Tracking & Production ($9000) - Includes pre-production, travel, studio gear, engineering, additional personnel, production, session work, post-session overdubs, mixing, and a culinary amateur’s love of cooking.
- Mastering ($500)
- Manufacturing/Marketing ($1640)
- Incidentals/Kickstarter Fees/Packaging Materials/Vinyl cost to recoup Dilated Time expenses/Online Distribution ($1860)
Vinyl will be released by Dilated Time.
The money used here will put the whole project on firm footing and create the conditions in which this album can really take off.
Here's a little math to demonstrate how we can get there together:
- 1625 people pledging $8
- 520 people pledging $25
- 260 people pledging $50
- 174 people pledging $75
- 130 people pledging $100
- 87 people pledging $150
- 52 people pledging $250
- 26 people pledging $500
- 13 people pledging $1000
- 5 people pledging $2700
- 2 people pledging $6500
Just by boosting your pledge up to the next level, you can increase your impact by a meaningful percentage!
Risks and challenges
We're trying to hit our goal in 31 days. If we don't meet the goal, the timeline for the production and the release of the album stretches way out into the unforeseeable future. I plan to tap as many resources and favors as I can in the short amount of time we have to get this project as much exposure as possible. I'm working locally to promote it, as well as my reach on social media, personal connections, on my website, and all of my streaming platforms.
Another challenge is getting back and forth between Wisconsin and Michigan in the middle of winter to record the album. I've got good tires and plenty of weight on the back wheels of my van. I'll be making two trips, so send good vibes and I promise to drive safe.
One last challenge to meet will be organizing and shipping all the physical rewards associated with the campaign. My wife Mary is a wizard with organization stuff and she'll be urging and helping me keep up with all that stuff: shirts getting printed, communicating with all of you guys about sizes, addresses, etc.
