This project will help share the Bible by putting a million verses onto web pages by using the power of internet advertising.  To commemorate America's Independence day, the verses will be themed around the biblical values that inspired and emboldened her founding fathers - true freedom, true life and true happiness.

Why share scripture?

I still remember the first scripture I ever read as a child.  It was engraved into a bronze plate above a faucet in a church yard, and read:  

Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. - John 4:13-14

There is something different about scripture that causes people to stop and take notice.  

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

My view is that God's word should be as accessible and engaging as anything else on the web. Several years ago I founded the topverses.com website which now helps thousands of people every day to find well known Bible verses.  Earlier this year I left a CTO role to focus full time on digital ministry and finding new ways to reach the connected generation.

How is this possible?

For several months I have been trialling different ways to share Bible verses using internet advertising.  I've been successful in obtaining approval from the networks to publish Bible based advertisments, and have also developed a sophisticated reporting system based on statistics received back from the networks.  Here is an extract showing global distribution for nearly 70,000 Bible verse ads.

Many of these countries are closed to the Christian message and our verses could be the only encounter people have with the Bible.

Step by Step

Once the project closes there will be a few days to make a final selection of verses.  I will compile a short list from backers' suggestions and then use the survey tool to come up with a final 10 verses. The shortlist will include edits if necessary to fit into the available ad space.  

Then I will create the advertisements and submit them for approval from the networks.  If any verses are rejected  then I'll go to the next verse on the list.

The verses will be scheduled for the week commencing 30 June, which should give Kick Starter time to release the funds, and coincide with the build up to 4th July.

During this time I will provide regular updates to all backers with details of the number of verses shown.  Some statistics take a few days for the networks to process, so these will be preliminary numbers.

When the final statistics are received I will compile them into a detailed report including day by day numbers for the countries impacted, and circulate the report to everyone. 

I will also commission the commemorative desktop wallpaper for eligible backers which will honor Independence Day as well as reflecting the verses shared and countries reached.  This should be complete by the end of July.

Finally, the team here will individually pray for those backers entitled to personally selected verses, which will be emailed as soon as possible.
