About

Multiverse: Cosmic Conquest® is a strategy card game to be released for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, and web. Players battle over the conquest of the galaxy. It can be played in 2 to 6 players in a variety of different formats.

Multiverse takes traditional collectible card game board game elements and creates a unique gameplay experience that you'll never find in another game.

Multiverse is played on a galaxy, which the game board that players will explore and try to conquer. Unlike other TCGs, where the game board is  divided in just your side and your opponent's side, in Multiverse you can move around anywhere in the galaxy, and the position and movement speed of your cards matters greatly.

A standard 2-player galaxy with 19 hexagons, or Spaces.
A standard 2-player galaxy with 19 hexagons, or Spaces.

The galaxy is different every game, so players are never quite sure what it has in store for them.

This is possible thanks to the way the galaxy is formed: each player alongside their draw deck has a special 10-card deck made up of galaxy cards. These cards are distributed face down one onto each hexagon at the beginning of the game to create a brand-new galaxy before each game.

In Multiverse, planets in the galaxy produce resource each turn, that you can pay in order to play cards like units, ships, and actions from your hand. You start the game with just one - your home planet, and as you explore the galaxy, you will conquer more.

This means that the cards that produce resource are completely separate from your draw deck, and you don't have to rely on drawing them to be able to play your cards. There can be no problem of resource screw of flood in Multiverse.

Unlike other TCGs, in Multiverse, there are two main ways of winning the game. You can either:

  • Conquer your opponent's home planet
  • Conquer more than half of the galaxy

Both strategies are equally viable, and almost any deck can switch gears mid-game and try and win the other way. This creates vibrant gameplay full of twists, turns, and on-the-spot decisions.

Multiverse a fantastic gameplay environment thanks to its unique design.

Units can attack enemy forces or can go inside of ships and buildings to be protected from enemy attacks, but they can't move in the galaxy without a ship.

Ships in Multiverse can attack as well, but only when you have a unit inside of them. This means that in order to start exploring and conquering the galaxy, you'll need both units and ships.

If a ship has the Boarding ability, however, you can decide to board your enemies' ships with your units and let them battle with each other. This way you can capture the enemy ship and use it as your own, instead of just destroying it.

To play any card, the resource you will pay has to come from the same space. However, if a ship has the Cargo ability, it can hold and transport resource from one space to another, which lets you play bigger cards quicker than your opponent, as well as play cards on planets you normally couldn't.

You can attack enemy forces if both cards are in the same space, but if your cards have the Range ability, you can attack with them safely from a distance.

These and many more abilities, like Quick Shot, Pierce, Shields, etc. allow you to interact with your opponent in a variety different ways.

Thanks to Multiverse's unique design, you can also interact with the galaxy. Putting more planets into your 10-card galaxy deck gives you a better shot at landing on them, putting Asteroid Fields and Nebulas lets you set traps for your opponent to stumble upon, putting more Wormholes lets you traverse the game board much faster, and so on.

Nebulas slow down all ships that have to pass through it.

We began the design and development for Multiverse 3 years ago with the release of episode 1 of the now 25-episode and ongoing video series Let's make a TCG. Over time, we gained a small following of fans who have supported us and helped us with the playtesting of the game online, on a virtual tabletop.

Some cards stayed relatively the same during the entire period of design and development. This is every iteration of Trok Gunner, going back to early 2015.
Some cards stayed relatively the same during the entire period of design and development. This is every iteration of Trok Gunner, going back to early 2015.

After more than a year of iterations and extensive playtesting of the gameplay, mechanics, and individual cards, the game is now completely balanced both in 2-player and multiplayer games and is a joy to play regardless of your preferred strategy.

Thanks to Kickstarter you have a chance to become part of Multiverse's history in a big way. We have been working recently with professional artists to bring all the characters of Multiverse to life. By choosing the Admiral and Grand Admiral backer rewards, you will be able to have your face painted as one of the characters in the game and become part of the game's artwork!

Even though Multiverse is still in development, the game has already started getting good reviews online, both in video and written form:

Risks and challenges

After having playtested the rules, mechanics, and individual cards of the game extensively on a virtual tabletop, we now have a completed design for the game.

We have designed the final online solution and we now need to implement it.

We are planning to use an off-shore development team and the proven lean hosting solutions, which would allow us to deliver a high-quality product in the shortest timescales possible and at a reasonable cost.

We have covered the bulk of the investment already, and our main challenge now is to cover the costs of the final online solution and the infrastructure implementation of the game.
