A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
1. THE PROJECT
Have you ever wondered why collectible action figures always depict fictional characters, but not real-life heroes who have made a mark on history?
It’s time to recognize and be inspired by the most famous scientists of our time! That’s why we have brought Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and Nikola Tesla back to life in the form of charming and educative action figures.
Learn about these scientific pioneers with an innovative Augmented Reality App that allows you to walk in their famous footsteps around a room of great personal significance, where their genius really came to light.
This new project is brought to you by The Historical Figures, a new brand launched by the team behind Today Is Art Day.
2. THE PRODUCT
The physical product consists of a charming figurine and a beautifully designed box.
2.1 The Figurine
Our figurines have these common features:
- High-quality PVC plastic construction - 5 inches tall - Highly detailed painting - Transparent base - Individual box - 10 facts about the character on the box
2.2 The Box

- The character's signature - Historical photo - Inspirational quote - 10 facts about the character
3. AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)
We are thrilled to introduce a new Augmented Reality (AR) App with this new collection of figurines. This app will allow you to time travel!
3.1 Time Travel with an AR App
Your phone is basically a time machine. Here’s how it works:
- Download the app to your smartphone or tablet. - Scan your figure.
- Launch the augmented reality portal.
- Step right in!
- Once you have walked through the AR portal, move your phone to see a scene from the past. - Click on objects to reveal stories.
3.2 AR App Demo Video
Check out this short demo video to see the app prototype we’ve designed thus far.
3.3 The Rooms
We recreated entire rooms in 3D to allow you to explore a place that was significant for each character:
Each room has been meticulously recreated based on archival images. Clickable objects and photos have been displayed throughout, revealing interesting anecdotes about each character. Will you find them all?
Albert Einstein's Lecture Hall
Marie Curie's Laboratory
Nikola Tesla's Experimental Station

Risks and challenges
We've been around! This is our 6th Kickstarter campaign!
We have always shipped and fulfilled our previous projects and we take great pride in offering quality products. The main risks we may encounter are delays in production or in shipping.
As you can see in the photos, we already have high-quality prototypes in hand. This means that all the design, copy, molds and materials have already been produced in our prototyping phase. We have tested this prototype and we are now ready for production.
The only thing missing is the funding to go into mass production. Everything else is lined up and ready!
