The more funding we get, the better our site will be! We will also keep printing our exclusive noun T-shirts for everyone who contributes over $30. Thank you for spreading the word and supporting our project :)
The Noun Project’s mission is to share, celebrate, and enhance the world’s visual language. Our goal is to collect and organize all the symbols that form our language into one easy-to-use online library that can be accessed by anyone. All the symbols on our site are completely free to download, and can be used for design projects, architecture presentations, art pieces - just about anything. Our symbols live here: www.thenounproject.com
We think a visual language that can be understood by all cultures and people is a pretty amazing thing. We also get excited about things like scale, proportion, and shape, and are committed to design and quality in everything we do. We think these symbols are works of art worth celebrating.
What we want to do:
In order to pursue our mission, we would like to grow the collection of symbols and improve the way we share them. We will do this by continuing to create and add symbols, and we also want to open it up to users to upload the symbols they create. In order to provide better access to the symbols, we will need to add a search option and organize the symbols into easily-accessible categories such as transportation, web-apps, way-finding, communication, etc. We're also planning to have exciting design contests for objects or ideas that need to be visually defined, for example a universal symbol for gluten free, food truck, or the internet.
What you get:
In order to thank our supporters, we've partnered with a high-end clothing company to produce one-of-a-kind noun T-shirts designed with the symbols from our site. Since we put a lot of focus on designing high quality symbols, we wanted to carry that same attention to detail and high quality to our shirts. Hozell is a Los Angeles-based small business that manufactures everything locally, and creates super comfortable and durable T-shirts that have a nice slim fit and are currently sold at Barneys and Fred Segal. You can have your very own custom T-shirt by supporting us at the $30 level and up.
