Missed our campaign? Head over to www.tinyme.com/kickstarter-name-blocks to get your hands on Tinyme Name Blocks!
At Tinyme we make the world's cutest personalised products for little people and we are really excited about our latest project, Tinyme Name Blocks. We've developed a contemporary version of the timeless wooden name puzzle. The design is customisable, has hidden educational superpowers, looks awesome (if we do say so ourselves) and is really well priced for you, our Kickstarter backers. It makes a great and unique gift which can be treasured for years to come.
So now let's get straight to the good stuff... your rewards! The way your pledge works is a little bit like a pre-order. Choose the product you want to receive, pledge that amount to the project and if it's successful you'll get your reward (one of the very first) by August this year!
“But how will you know what's included in my pledge?”
Good question... When the Kickstarter project is finished we'll send you a survey to confirm the details of your pledge. Simple!
Tinyme Name Blocks allow you to choose from different font, colour, pattern and design options to create a truly unique puzzle and come in 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 block versions.
They come with a snug felt storage pouch to make packing up easy and have 2 slide in cards to enhance the educational value of the puzzle.
The first card allows your little one to create their name by matching letter and colour. Once they've mastered this step, simply slide out the card to reveal the black and white text version. No colour prompt means that matching needs to be based only on letter.
THE CUTEST & THE BESTEST...
A child recognising their own name is an exciting first step in opening them up to a whole new world. A world of letters and words... And who doesn’t like working on their fine motor skills, honing their colour and shape matching abilities, and of course packing everything up afterwards?!
LET'S GET DOWN TO DETAILS...
Our Name Blocks are crafted from premium quality plywood, sealed with a clear protective coating and printed with non-toxic inks. The slide in cards are made from durable plastic sheet with nice, kid safe round corners. We’ve had the puzzles independently tested and they comply with the toy safety standards for Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
WHERE THE PROJECT IS AT...
So far we have completed prototyping all sizes of our wooden puzzles including test prints of the blocks and plastic strips. We’ve tried the puzzles out on our own kids and they're a big hit. The puzzles have been independently tested and they comply with the toy safety standards for Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Our first round of design options, as seen in the video, have also been completed. We've ordered and received our first batch (minimum order quantities) of puzzle bases, blocks and felt covers from our suppliers, used for all prototyping to date. A plan has been created on how to integrate the design options and personalisation into our website and production systems as well as what we need to do to make our production systems ready for full scale production.
STILL TO COME & WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP...
With your backing we’ll be able to push the project into full production. YAY! Here's what is yet to be done and what your backing will enable... We'll still need to complete all of the design and fonts options so at launch we have a large range for you to choose from. We're yet to design and code the integration into our web site and production system to make the customisation process as simple as possible for our customers.
To make the name blocks we'll need to finish design and manufacture of our jigs and fixtures to move from simply prototyping to full production. Very importantly, your backing will enable us to place an order for large scale quantities of all of our stock items e.g. wooden bases, blocks, felt covers and plastic cards.
To handle larger volumes and have back up production capabilities we would also like to purchase an additional printing machine for the decoration element of the name puzzle creation.
We’re super excited about Tinyme Name Blocks and hope you are too. Thanks for taking the time to check 'em out and we look forward to your support!
Have a great day!
Risks and challenges
We have completed prototyping, testing and have preliminary stock so we are confident that in moving toward full scale production we can deliver. Having designed and produced custom made products for over 7 years we have very long standing relationships with the suppliers that are creating our wooden components and felt covers. Occasionally however, our suppliers' delivery times blow out. We have allowed some additional time in our delivery projections just in case.
We will be printing the wooden blocks and plastic strips using our own printer. Having just purchased the printer we haven’t had any problems to date, however, machines do break down and this can hold up production. We’ve allowed additional time just in case we need to fix anything and if the project goes very well, we will look at investing in a 2nd machine immediately. This would arrive before the production materials.
Creating great design options and integrating them into our website and production system is what we live and breathe so for this part of the project… bring it on! For our super early bird and some of our early bird pledges we hope to be dispatching orders in July. For all other pledges this would be in August.
In the event of our factory being hit by an asteroid we would have to move to our backup underground bunker which is located below an unused drive-in-theatre in the desert and accessed only by selecting “We’re going to party like it’s 1999” followed by entering the secret pin code into the jukebox of the adjacent truck stop. If our staff are wiped out by the same fore-mentioned asteroid we’d then call on our army of hibernating robot workers to complete your order. In this unlikely event, your order might even be delivered early as our robots are pretty darn rad! Thanks for pledging!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
