About The Game
Our goal is to release Lingual in December with introductions to English, Mandarin and Spanish. The game will be a free download with in-app purchases for additional content.
We want to announce a stretch goal! If we reach the $6,500 mark we will expand our content in either English, Mandarin or Spanish. This means an additional 2 journeys containing 2 monuments and songs as well as 40 icons and words. The language content expansion will officially be determined in a survey given to all backers once our campaign ends.
So you’ve found me, Lingual, the guy who created cultural divide through language. How you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Once, a long time ago, all the world spoke the same, ate the same foods, wore the same clothes and lived in peace and harmony. I grew very bored of that peace and harmony though, so I spent hundreds and thousands of years separating speech and creating changes in architecture and clothes and food until people divided into groups that could no longer understand one another. Since I know language is the key to understanding, I have kept anyone and everyone from learning another tongue (and reveled in my glory). It’s clear to me that you intend to challenge me in order to learn your ridiculous new utterance. Good luck, it won’t be easy.
Lingual is the name of the game as well as the arch nemesis in this interactive iPad application designed to effortlessly teach multiple languages to beginners. This educational app will submerse beginners into the world of Lingual where they will be taken on a journey to learn the language of their choosing. With flash card-like methodology, each journey teaches language through audio and written word. Each journey will also allow users to learn culture and geography while they receive surprises from Lingual himself as he hovers in his hot air balloon above all game play. Set to release in December, the initial language offerings will be English, Mandarin (Simplified Chinese) and Spanish.
We’re close to reaching our December release goal, but we need your donations to complete our journey. All funds will go towards the last 2 months of development, hiring a designer part time to illustrate assets, and recording and cutting the last of the audio tracks. We have these remaining items queued up and can’t wait to use your donations to put them in action!

Risks and challenges
There’s always the risk that the game won’t receive approval from the App Store, but this is highly unlikely as we comply with Apple’s terms and conditions. It will be a big challenge to complete this app by December 1 in order to submit it to Apple for review and have it available for purchase in the App Store by mid December. However, we’ve previously released a game and understand the complexities associated with design, development and release. Also, we have a lot of momentum and motivation behind this project and will stop at nothing to finish (just as Lingual will stop at nothing to challenge anyone and everyone to a language learning face-off).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
