“Braver” is an original episodic comedy series about the punk band Braver. The story begins as Ryan, Parker and Lupe set out on their first ever tour... which of course is paid for by a bucket of quarters Ryan got by beating up a candy machine. Ryan and Parker wind up in jail after being pulled over by a ghost cop, and Lupe has no idea what happened to them. Check it out in our pilot.
Since the release of Braver: Ghost Cop, we've been overwhelmed with compliments and questions asking when more episodes will be made. We have a whole journey planned, but to finish it, we need your help.
Our minimum goal is to produce three, brand new, 15 minute episodes of Braver. The more money we make, however, the more episodes we can make. The series will be produced by Tiny Coyote Productions, the same team that made Ghost Cop.
Pre-production will begin immediately, and the first episode will be released in Fall of 2015.
We know what you’re thinking, and yea, you’re right, it’s a lot of money for a few episodes. However, we go to great lengths to create our content and we do it as cost effective as we can. Ghost Cop was made for under $3,000, with an 8 person crew, and it took one year to complete. We always aim to create the best content we can, which we believe shows. This takes resources and time but will be vital to our show's style.
Each episode’s pre-production includes casting, editing scripts, story-boarding, rehearsal, scouting and locking locations, designing props, purchasing wardrobe and building sets, and coordinating with cast and crew.
After pre-production, we will put our plan into action and film the episode. Production costs will consist of food for cast and crew, equipment rental and purchase, paying key personnel, and production insurance (and that ain't cheap).
In post-production the video and audio are converted and synced. Everything is edited, special effects are created, and then after the editing is complete, the image is color graded. From there we move onto additional dialog recording and dialog replacement, sound effects and foley are recorded and added. During this stage we also write and compose the score. All of the sound effects, dialog, and music are blended together and added to the picture. Then, finally, we perform the mix.
As you can see, producing a series of cinematic quality is very time consuming and expensive. It is the way we believe the series needs to be shown, and that's why we're asking for this amount.
Tiny Coyote Productions is a small, independent film company, and Braver is a punk band. Catch my drift? We require outside funding to produce our work, and at our level, this is out best chance to make the show we want.
We believe in our project and we are excited about where it's going. We are seeking funding from the fans, the curious, the film lovers, the ones who see the potential in in this show. With your help, we will make this show faster and better than we could through traditional funding approaches. We are very eager to bring you this series, and we are just as excited to reward you for helping us make it.
Braver is brought to you by Braver and Tiny Coyote productions. The pilot episode, Ghost Cop, was filmed and edited over the period of one year.
Since 2011 Braver has released their debut album, Stay Busy! on 12” vinyl with Lost Cat Records & Pogo Party Records, and a split with Direct Hit! (Milwaukee) on Lost Cat and Let’s Pretend Records.
Tiny Coyote Productions is the independent film company behind Braver. Our group (Kurt Radtke, & David Wasylik, Lupe Muraszewski) started with the simple, common desire to make films. Our first film as a group was The Teleported Man and it set the path in wanting to make film well.
We are able to take a skeleton crew, nonexistent budget, limited equipment, and turn these would-be drawbacks into success. If our goal is reached, we are certain to deliver a great show.
Risks and challenges
We made the pilot and our Kickstarter video to show that we know how to make a film and that we love doing it. We are dedicated and have a high standard for ourselves and every project we do. The biggest risk to this project is it taking longer than expected to finish.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
