Chadd Downing Music Video for 1, 2, Many: Veteran Suicide
Marine veteran Chadd Downing created a song for 1, 2, Many: Veteran Suicide project. We want to create a powerful music video for it.
One year ago, Timothy Lawson conceptualized and launched a project called 1, 2, Many: Veteran Suicide. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, he began interviewing veterans about their experiences with suicidal behavior.
Shortly after the project was announced, Tim got ahold of Marine veteran Chadd Downing. He asked Chadd to create a song for the project. That song is in the audio player at the top of the page. It is a great example of how we can all use our creative outlet to address the crisis of veteran suicide. Now we want to make a music video that is equally as powerful.
We've set the goal at a very reasonable amount. It includes reward delivery, production costs, and logistics. Hitting that will get us a video we can be proud of. The more we raise, the more production we can put into this important project.
We've gained interest from producers such as Marsten House, Redd Pen Media, and FlamFilms. All which have worked with Chadd before. Determining the official producer for the video will be dependent on scheduling, availability, and resources.
If you or someone you know would be interested in being involved in the creation of this music video, please message us.
Chorus: Through all my ups and downs, I'm a probably mess around, go ahead and make it on top/ through all my different tours, I done see some s*** before, but some how my heart ain't stop/ I gotta live 4x
Verse: Heavy as a brick upon my chest, can't sleep at night my mind state is a mess, Johnny, Jack and Jim get me through when I'm stressed, man in the mirror got me fearing what is next/ I remember life, it wasn't like this, I wish that I didn't have to write this/ pain in my heart from the s*** I seen, suicide vest from the mujahideen. Lost my best friend back in '07, daisy chain took his life it was nothing left to bury him, it was hella scary then, wish it was a dream, just passed his birthday, he was 19. I gotta live for a purpose, even though some morning I wake up feeling worthless/ doctor say I got some demons living in me, I tell that mother f***er he ain't ever been there wit me.
Keep all opinions to ya self, everyone's an expert when it comes to mental health, doctors write prescriptions, soon as preachers quote from scripture, I been living with some issues, I been coping with some liquors (what is this)
Risks and challenges
From Tim: We first have to manage logistics. I'm in DC, Chadd is in South Carolina, and our video producer could be in Philly or Jersey. Secondly, it'll be a challenge to ensure the aesthetics of the video best represent the message and resonates with the viewer.
From Chadd: The main issue with completing this task is scheduling. All of the key characters involved with this project live very active lives. We're constantly moving about the country, all while maintaining our respective responsibilities. Another thought that has concerned me: will the visual be able to capture the feelings of the song? Specific details pertaining not only to myself, but others who are now deceased were mentioned. That type of authenticity deserves to be shown in a fitting manner. The talent & knowledge of people involved have my full confidence. I am eager and excited to be apart of what we are doing. I can't wait for it to be released to the public.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
