Ever wish you could visit Ancient Rome? Get surreal with Salvador Dali?
How about owning a manual on time travel while helping support students across Los Angeles?
That’s oddly specific, but do we have a book for you!
Introducing THE TIME SCOUTS HANDBOOK, your guide to traveling the whatever of whenever from 826LA. Filled with over 80 pages of time travel tips, writing prompts, and other useful scout tips like space knots, the Time Scouts Handbook has been lovingly designed to explore the most important place in space and time - your imagination.
With your help, we’ll not only create a print version of this manual for 21st century consumption, you’ll fund access to Time Scout programming for students across Los Angeles.
So if you like traveling time, or just pretending you can - help us make Time Scouts a reality. The future will be better for it.
Time Scouts and this handbook are part of 826LA, a very real nonprofit dedicated to supporting students and teachers across Los Angeles. It is definitely not a front for an intergalactic, time-traveling adventure organization called Time Scouts. Who told you that? Was it Frida?
Started in 2002, by author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari, 826 has grown to serve over 34,000 under-resourced students in eight major US cities, making it the largest youth writing network in the country.
In Los Angeles, 826LA operates out of the Time Travel Mart. With two locations in Mar Vista and Echo Park, the Time Travel Mart is the perfect place to purchase anything a time travel needs, exactly at the time they need it.

Developed by 826LA staff and volunteers, the Time Scouts program has been designed to encourage learning through creative exploration of your imagination.
“Founded” in the Fourth Quadrillion 826,628 ST, Time Scouts is a multiverse-spanning organization dedicated to the growth of its members through the travel of space and time. It seeks to document the past, cultivate the present, and build a better future through the empowerment of Scouts young and old.
Time Scouts can advance ranks, earn time patches, and find ways to help their local community. You might be a Time Scout, and not even know it yet. Time is funny like that.

THE TIME SCOUTS HANDBOOK
While time travel may not be real, this book very much is.
We’ve spent over two years collaborating with local artists, writers, and robots to build an entertaining read for time enthusiast of all ages. It looks equally good on a coffee table or being used to fend off woolly mammoth attacks.
Clocking in at over 80 full color pages, THE TIME SCOUTS HANDBOOK guides prospective Time Scouts as they learn how to form a Time Squad, politely interact with historical figures, chart constellations and name a few of their own.

Risks and challenges
Created lovingly by dozens of volunteers and staff members of 826LA, we are excited to get this book in your, and our students, hands.
In terms of creating the book, 826LA has printed hundreds (if not thousands) of printed materials for the students of LA. The book's final draft, pending tier illustrations, is already completed and being edited as we speak.
This is our second Kickstarter, so we have enlisted help from several veteran Kickstarters to accurately source and ship these products.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
