A small business in Michigan, Timber Alchemy Gaming is a workshop that produces wooden dice trays and towers, with an emphasis on heirloom quality and artisan craftsmanship. It was founded by Matt Michalski, his wife Katy, and his good friends Kevin McLaughlin and Brock Mizikow on the shared ideal of bringing the magic of nature back to tabletop gaming and creating lasting experiences to share with those we love and appreciate.
Being a bunch of creative nerds, their passion for crafting could not be tempered. Combining their experiences and expertise, they found a way to do what they love while loving what they do, and thus TAG was born, with every wooden tray and tower a manifestation of the bonds between friends and family. It's quite magical.
Sleek and beautiful, the Morgan is the first of our dice tray designs we will be rolling out. A variation of this design was the spark that lit the fires of TAG, and that inspiration is part of why we'll always have a special place in our hearts for it. Through the input of gamers and craftsmen alike, we've tweaked and polished the design to a perfection worthy of the Queen of Fae!
It is fitted with a suede board to minimize dice bounce and four wooden benches to hold and organize your inventory of dice. With dimensions of L10"xW10"xH2", it has the convenience of both being small enough to not crowd your table as well as just big enough to have multiple dice roll around.
Straight from the sylvan wilds, the Morgan is a staple for any tabletop game. Let this beautiful tray keep the dice in your control and the odds in your favor.
A sturdy and powerful design, the Pendragon is the first of our dice tower designs we will be rolling out. By popular demand, we've chosen this clever and convenient piece of craftsmanship to inspire creativity and imagination in any campaign.
A strong ruler should never be without a castle. This dice tower has been elegantly crafted to give the cast of your dice the presence of royalty, with metal rods throughout the center to melodically announce your rolls as they tumble down and out along the suede interior. This is also a favorite to use in market settings of your desired role-playing game, immersing the players with the sound of "coin". Be they in a shop or castle, the magnetically detachable signpost can let them know if they need to break out the GP or kneel before their king.
A wise ruler can always adapt to any situation. The Pendragon is fully collapsible so you can take it onward to your next gaming event! Our convenient design lets you store your dice as well as the tower and, with the strength of magnetic forces, reassemble it with ease, ready to go at a moments notice. It stands with dimensions of L14"xW7"xH9" when fully assembled to a height of 2" when collapsed, and has a tower comprised of 5 wooden boards and 6 metal rods.
As majestic as the king it's named after, this tower is sure to impress all who see it and delight all who use it!
The attention and support we garnered at every convention we've attended is still hard to believe. It's humbling and inspiring to experience and we only wish we could do more. So to have a stronger output and to ease the labor we're looking to take our company to the next level. Though we've talked to some investors who have shown interest, we have come to the decision that, if possible, we'd like to make sure our creativity and standards go unimpeded by any third-parties, and crowd funding is the best way to do so!
We believe in the strength of community and that by working with YOU it'll make our trays and towers a TRUE work to be proud of and pass on the generations. Every dollar and every share puts us closer to having the means to expand ourselves so we can deliver our products to a much wider audience while still maintaining the high quality we keep in every piece.
About 70% of all contributions will be going into upgrading our humble little workshop. Equipment such as a dust collection system, band saw, a CNC machine, and general construction components (walls, doors) is where the bulk of the money will be going.
About 20% of all contributions will be put into resources for making the rewards. By working directly with you, we are able to see the interest for our current designs in real time. We decided to use this to its full advantage by having our products be your rewards! We've made the necessary calculations (boring stuff like labor, wood costs, etc) so that we can make sure you get your heirloom quality dice trays and towers at a decent time!
Whether you want more dice to compliment your new tray or you'd like to pair your Morgan with a Pendragon and complete the set, for additional products just choose your reward and, using the chart below, add the indicated amount to your pledge! Once the campaign has been finished you will receive an email. Simply confirm your desired items and, like magic, you're all set!
Risks and challenges
We have already been selling these designs locally, and with the proof of concept there is minimal risk for this Kickstarter. Once fully funded, we will see it through 'till the end save for some dreadful catastrophe. We are truly dedicated to our crafts and those who support us so, should any event arise (good or bad), we will be sending emails and vlogs on Youtube to keep our backers consistently updated.
A common risk is simple human error. This is our first Kickstarter, and thus a few hiccups are likely to take place. We have been working hard to compensate for all seen factors, but it is the unforeseen factors that like to throw a wrench in the machine. Making sure we don't bite off more than we can chew is our biggest priority right now and we've been doing our best to accurately calculate for such, including generous consultation from those who have run successful kickstarters.
The biggest risk that would result in delays would be with the instillation of equipment and construction of the workshop. Though we have highly trusted parties who will be helping with this part of the process, they are still third parties, and thus that takes some control out of our hands. We do, however, have full faith and confidence that they will perform their work to the quality and standards we expect and are excited to start work on it as soon as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
