PHASE II BEGINGS 8/24/19
We are so excited to announce that we have hit the initial goal in our fundraising campaign for Passing in the Night! THANK YOU to all of our friends, family and fans for sharing our story and getting the word out. Because of you, we raised the $23,069 it took us to track, mix, master, the album, as well as commission art, photos and a music video. We feel humbled and grateful by this money we were able to raise to raise the look and sound of our band. However, we didn't factor every expense into our Phase I goal.
So it's time for Phase II! Where our total Kickstarter effort is now $36,069. With your help, here's what we could get done!
- Lyric Video for a song off the album $750
- Another Music Video with Mara Whitehead and Raleigh Gambino $1250
- Extra Vinyl Printing to sell and distribute $3,000
- A downpayment for a van that doesn't catch on fire on I 80 (true story) $4,000
- Another month of promotion with Presshouse $3,000
TOTAL FUNDS NEEDED $13,000 8/24
TOTAL FUND ACHIEVED (YAS) $23,069 8/23
TOTAL KICKSTARTER EFFORT $36,069 deadline 9/4
The rewards will stay the same, with house concerts, cover songs, and vinyl still available! Please continue to share with your friends as we enter into the home stretch!
Thank you ALL for your continued support in helping us release this music into the world and tour it throughout the country. We couldn't do this without you!

- We are making our 3rd studio album, and we're asking for your support.
Since the birth of Thunder and Rain in 2013, the band has grown and developed in ways we never could have imagined. We've seen the band go from playing local bars and farmer's markets, to playing major festivals and touring internationally. We were finalists in the 2014 Rockygrass band competition and we were named Westword's Best Bluegrass Band of 2016. We've had the opportunity to meet and share the stage with our heroes and make two full-length studio albums of our original music. All of these incredible experiences would never have been possible without YOU.
Over the past 6 years, we've experienced our fair share of hardships and shake-ups as well. We've gone through various member changes, experimented with our sound, and at times felt uncertain about what the future would hold for Thunder and Rain.
But something has happened in the last year. Things have clicked into place and we've become the band we always envisioned. We dug deep to really hone in on what the music of Thunder and Rain is truly all about and we're ready to share it with you. We are thrilled to bring you our 3rd studio album, Passing in the Night, 12 original songs about transformation, heart-break and hope.
But just like everything else we've done up to this point, we can't do it without you.
We are pulling out all the stops to bring you the best product we possibly can. We've recorded the album at Swingfingers Studio in Fort Collins with engineer and session producer, Aaron Youngberg. Album mastering by Anna Frick at Airshow. Album art and design by Scott McCormick. Promotional support by Press House. Music videos by Mara Whitehead and Raleigh Gambino. All of these elements are coming together to present a unified artistic vision to tell the story of this album.
We'd also like to give a HUGE shout out to two fabulous musicians that played on this album- Natalie Padilla on Fiddle, and Chris Herbst on Dobro. Thank you for helping us arrange these songs, and this album would be nothing without the two of you!
We are asking for $23,069 to help us bring this to life. Although our estimated total cost for this album is well beyond that, we've poured our hearts and pennies into this project but we can't do it alone. We need your help.
We believe in this album. And we also believe in you. It's never lost on us how important you all have been to getting us to this point. Every step of the way, none of it would be possible without your support. This album is no exception. We're offering some exciting rewards to our backers, including special edition items that will only be available to Kickstarter supporters. From exclusive art prints, to an intimate concert in your own home, there's something for everyone.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything. We are so proud to bring you, Passing in the Night. This music is for you.
Risks and challenges
Making a professional record is difficult and expensive. So many things go into making a successful record beyond just recording the songs, and we certainly aren't doing it alone. That's why surrounding ourselves with the right people and resources are essential to the success of this album. We've put our whole hearts into this band and this music and we fully believe in this project. With your support, we will be able to take Thunder and Rain to new heights while bringing you our most personal and authentic music to date.
We are more than happy to address and questions or concerns regarding our fundraising campaign. Feel free to email us at email@example.com or drop by a show sometime and chat with us!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
