Island of Blight, a Multi-System Fantasy RPG Adventure!
The Red Priests of the Snake God suffered a crushing blow to their plans when they failed to take the small town of Thuil. Reeling from their defeat, they have returned to the deep jungles of Nolgur-Wul to regroup. The human villages outside the jungles know that it is only a matter of time before the Red Priests and their minions return. Now is the time to take the fight to them, deep within the jungles! The characters are urged to delve into the depths of Nolgur-Wul to track the Red Priests back to their clandestine temple where it is said a serpent queen, maiden of the Snake God himself, leads the growing cult. On the trail of the fleeing Red Priests, the adventurers find that a mysterious blight has recently begun to destroy the western jungles, villages, and all life within. What starts as a quick investigation becomes an unusual and deadly puzzle. More importantly, is this blight the Snake God's doing or something completely separate?
A moderately challenging adventure for three to five players, Island of Blight can be played using OSRIC, 5E, and SRS. Written by Thom Wilson of ThrowiGames, edited by Michael J. Gross, III.
All of my series work is set in the World of Terra Minor. Each adventure provides more detail about the world and its inhabitants, factions, governments, and history. Island of Blight continues the story started in the first book of the series, In Defense of Thuil.
When this Project Ends, What Needs to be Done?
Completing the edits, then printing and shipping the rewards. The writing, cartography, and illustrations are already complete! I like to complete as much as possible *before* I start a Kickstarter project, so you get your rewards after payments process and the books are printed. No waiting. No excuses.
The book is 100% written and has already been play-tested.
Island of Blight is a 28-page, saddle-stitched 8.5" x 11" book. It has a color exterior and a black and white interior. The book comes in two parts: a 28-page booklet and a detachable cover with black and white maps on the interior.
The initial goal of $750 roughly equates to 40 to 50 printed books. Why only $750? Because we want to meet a reachable goal!
Lucas Pandolfelli has been the primary artist for ThrowiGames projects, providing color cover and B&W interior illustrations for the first two series thus far.
Interior artwork has been provided by Brian Thomas and Mustafa Bekir, with the latter artist new to my line of products.
Monkey Blood Design has drawn all the maps for the interior and the detachable cover. Here is a sample of his work on one of the maps:
The regional map will be on the inside of the detachable card stock cover and detailed encounter maps will be within the book.
Triple Stat Blocks?
Every foe and challenge in the book that has stat blocks will be displayed in a three-system format. Here is an example of one of the stat blocks in the book:
Special Note on PDFs
Any Print Supporter can request a PDF in addition to their physical reward – I do not automatically send the PDF to print backers. Many print backers from my last project did not want the PDF. I'll ask you in the survey if you want the PDF. If you don't want it, you won't get it.
Signed and Numbered?
Every printed book in this project (Island of Blight title only) will be signed, numbered, and distributed in the order determined by backer timing – other than the #1 print, guaranteed by the single backer tier (Collector). Print #2 and beyond are assigned to customers in the order in which they back the project. Early backers get the lower-numbered prints.
Part Two of Four
The first book in this series, In Defense of Thuil, took the adventurers from the southern reaches of Wynhelm and into the dark jungles of Nolgur-Wul, helping to push back the evil forces looking to expand their foothold. In Defense of Thuil could be considered a standalone adventure but it left the door wide open for continuation into the second book of the four-book series, Trail of the Serpent Queen. The final two books in the series will release later, in 2019.
With the book completed, it's hard to offer stretch goals that may change the layout and size of the finished book. However, we do have a few things planned, announced once we reach particular goals we have in mind.
*Update October 22nd* - After reaching the double-goal mark, I'm adding a 4-page jungle adventure PDF to the project, downloadable at RPGNow after the PDF for the main books are delivered.
Triple-goal mark stretch goal: an encounter worksheet PDF. **Unlocked November 1st**
Quadruple-goal mark stretch goal: ???
If the book is already done, why do the rewards specify a January delivery date? Although we should have the books out the door by the end of November and early December, I can't guarantee that the holiday season won't slow the mailing down. I'd rather promise you January and deliver them early.
Previous Project(s) and Work
The Throwigames Simple Roleplaying System (SRS) All-in-One Guide, successfully launched and completed in March 2014. Additionally, I've published many other books outside of Kickstarter, all on time and on budget. My work was featured in two Mythoard boxes and the September 2016 RPGCrate. Additioanlly, my quarterly B/X fanzine is sold exclusively (in print) at Goodman Games. Nearly all of my work is available as PDFs too, at RPGNow.
I have now produced over two dozen books and adventures for my own game system. This book will be the fifth book that can also be used outside my system, for first or fifth edition gaming.

Risks and challenges
With print projects, we are often at the mercy of the printing company; their delays become ours. Luckily, I've found a reliable local printer that I've used several times now, and the print runs have been high quality and completed *before* the expected date.
This isn't my first Kickstarter project – all my projects were successful and delivered early or on-time. I use the same strategy when printing books for direct sales; these offline projects have also been delivered on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
