About this project
Your group failed to stop the transformation spell at Castle Tokatel, allowing the dwarven god Thringalesh to escape unscathed. With the help of mysterious allies and ancient magic, you're forced to track him down deep within Darkhome. While you work your way toward his location, obtaining the necessary magic items for your final confrontation, the reawakened god grows stronger. Can you find him in time? Or will he destroy all of Ornaklia with his evil will bent on revenge?
God Slayers is a multi-system adventure of moderate difficulty. The adventure was written for our own game system (ThrowiGames Simple Roleplaying System, or TSRS), OSRIC and 5th edition. Characters of third to fifth level will find this adventure challenging.
The book is full of great illustrations and maps. Here is one of the maps by MonkeyBlood Design:
Lucas Pandolfelli returns as the primary cover and interior artist; check out an interior picture below:
His cover work can be seen at the top of the project page.
I've added a second artist to this book; Isaiane de Mendonça has contributed a couple of pictures, including a full page illustration.
God Slayers is the final book in the three part False Promises series. This series takes adventurers from the simple mystery of an abandoned mine in False Promises, to a desolate mountain castle where a forgotten god is reawakened in Fury of Thringalesh, to the final battle between immortal gods and mortal men in God Slayers. In this final book, adventurers must traverse mountains, tombs, ancient keeps, and underground cities to find Thringalesh and face him before he builds an army to destroy the continent!
God Slayers will be available in two formats: a 40 page soft cover book or as a PDF. The cover will be in full color, with a black and white interior. This book is a standard 8.5" x 11" size. Backers will receive their book in late January or early February.
The book is 100% written and in the final stages of editing and layout. Only a handful of maps and illustrations are left to be completed - a majority of that work is already done though, so fulfillment of the project will commence immediately after money is collected and the book is printed. I pay for the cartography and illustrations up front before the project is funded so backers don't have to wait for work to be completed.
I usually complete shipping books out a week after the books are printed.
A note about numbered copies: Numbers are assigned to backers in chronological order (e.g. the first backer will receive the #2 copy, the second backer will get the #3 copy, and so forth). Only one backer can get the #1 copy with the special Super Collector reward.
Why isn't there a 3 book offering, for the whole series? Honestly, I don't have any more copies of False Promises, they have all sold out!
Most of my projects don't bother with stretch goals; since my books are generally written, edited, and laid out in advance of the project, there is not a lot of room for changes. There are a few things we can do however. I've added a couple of starter stretch goals just in case the project really takes off.
The project goal is roughly a break-even number. With printing and art/cartography, the $1250 goal just returns my investment.
One of the reward tiers mentions pre-published books or prototypes, what's that? I generally have 6 or more books in the works long before a project is started. These adventures are playtested at conventions and with two local groups. Some make the cut, some don't. Some are posted to my website for free download, but some will get printed in one way or another.
Books that make the cut are edited and laid out for print before cartography and illustrations (with space allotted for that content for later insertion). These are prototype booklets, hand bound and printed. Sometimes, I add my own maps in the open spaces to make sure I can get them to fit.
I have a couple of adventures that will be printed in 2016 that are currently in prototype form. If you're the kind of person that wants to have a rough copy of one of my books before it gets printed, these prototypes are for you.
God Slayers will be the ninth book I've printed, and the fourth Kickstarter project I've launched. Most of my printings are done offline, for conventions, subscription services (like Mythoard), or private runs.
Here is what has been printed so far:
My release schedule is very tight with several books and projects releasing in the next 12-18 months. In early 2016, we're releasing TSQ2 Island of Blight, and a few digest sized sized books (Halloween Goes to Hell, The Wicked, Woeful Web, and The Shambling Thieves). These four books have all been playtested.
There are another four books staged in the testing queue: TSQ3 Trail of the Serpent Queen,The Prison of Doloragonia, Freeing Umfall, and The Evil Within (with the last two likely to be free download adventures).
ThrowiGames has been around since 2010, writing and producing products for the ThrowiGames Simple Roleplaying System (TSRS). We were nominated in 2013 for an Ennie Award for Best Free Product - a vast majority of the work released by ThrowiGames is free to download at the website. Occasionally, we like to print some of our work; we do so via Kickstarter or smaller, private runs. Some of our work has been inserted into a monthly Mythoard, including the exclusive book The Miller's Blunder.
In 2016, we're going to change the company name and system to Nomad Gaming and SRS respectively. The logo of all materials will also change to this one:

Lucas Pandolfelli - the cover and interior artist for most of my full size books. He's done four covers and numerous interior illustrations for the False Promises and Trail of the Serpent Queen series. His website can be found here: http://lucaspandolfelli.blogspot.com/
Isaiane de Mendonça -a new artist for ThrowiGames, her work has great detail and strong lines. I'm looking forward to doing more work with her in the future. You can find her work here: https://www.facebook.com/isaartwork
Monkeyblood Design - Glynn has been doing maps for ThrowiGames for the last four books. His work is exceptional! Here is his website: http://monkeyblooddesign.co.uk/
Special thanks to my son Ben who helped me complete the video!
Risks and challenges
This is my fourth Kickstarter project and although one of those did not reach goal, the other three have all delivered on time. The books are pre-written and illustrated so that there is no wait time after the project ends.
I've started to use a new printing company - my last print project with them was top notch. They know that this project is coming and are prepared to move quickly once I send them thew files for print.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
