An essential collection of five knives - the last set you’ll ever need,

Enduring Japanese VG10 steel with 67 layers of ocean tide damascus cladding, designed for performance, and backed by a 50-year warranty.

We’re not the only knife set out there, but we might just be your last.

We ran our prototypes through the gauntlet with chefs, sharpening masters, and metallurgists to test the knife quality and gain feedback.

We believe thoughtful design is nonnegotiable for the tools we use every day, but it doesn't require a massive overhaul of your life. When you make one small change, you create a ripple effect.  These small efforts pave the way for actions, habits, and new beliefs that can lead to massive positive impacts to our world.

We draw inspiration from the balance we see in nature: balance of form and function, of materials and textures, of the modern and the timeless.

 Each THRIVE 5 knife is modeled after the sleek, minimalist aesthetic of legendary industrial designer Filippo Perini.  Every blade starts with a single fluid curve. Every aesthetic detail has a purpose.  Every millimeter, thoughtfully considered.

 We did away with any bells and whistles and obsessed over the basics. Instead of a crowd of unnecessary knives, we chose only  five. Instead of a multitude of color options, we chose two.  Each symbol or character is meticulously stamped not printed, onto the knife, providing an incredible tactile experience.

It took us a year just to test these knives, but the final result is this convergence of sustainability, aesthetic, and accessibility.

Our blades are forged from imported Japanese VG10 steel (the “G” in VG10 stands for “Gold Standard”).  VG10 is easy to sharpen, has fantastic edge retention, and maintains an enduring sharpness.  Each knife is cryogenically treated with subzero liquid nitrogen to an HRC of 59-60, with dual-sided ocean tide damascus cladding. This treatment enhances the steel's crystalline structure transformation from austentite to martensite for a blade that can hold a sharper, more enduring edge.

We believe that knives hold a powerful place in millions of lives today. We cook for the ones we love, we prepare nutrition for ourselves and our community, and we seek out tools that allow us the ease and convenience to do so.

If a tomato oozes every time you cut it, or if bread rips apart when you try to slice it from the loaf, chances are it’s not your knife skills—it’s your knife.

Cheap knives can come with a sharp edge out of the box, but quickly lose that edge due to poor quality steel.  If you are fed up with your current knives, please help us protect the environment by recycling these knives with your local recycling center or scrapyard.  Stainless steel can be melted down and reused with no degradation for future products.

Nº4 - NAKIRI Vegetable Cleaver 6" - Vegetables don't stand a chance against the Nakiri.  With a full flat belly, the nakiri is built to chop through cucumbers, onions, carrots, and more.

Nº5 - BREAD Serrated Slicer 9" - If a food has a firm surface like a baguette or tomato, the serrated slicer is your best bet.  Our wave serration allows slices to fall away without tearing the surface.


The structure of the handle was our obsession. In sports like tennis and golf, you are often taught to grip the handle of your club or racket like a handshake—this handshake grip offers both optimal control and protects your joints.

Many knives are designed to encourage the hammer grip. The hammer grip causes wrist fatigue from overextending the wrist, and decreases both versatility and control.

To solve this issue, we designed our knives with a dual-parabolic bolster to encourage an ergonomic pinch grip as well as tapering the handle to be the thickest at the index finger side of the palm.  This allows for secure grip and placement of the knife in the hand as well as superior control and reduced tension in the palmar tendons. 

As of 2015, 25.6% of our landfills were filled with durable goods.  Imagine what that number is today? The EPA defines a durable good as something that is supposed to last for 3 years of use, but because of cheap materials, poor design, and quick manufacturing shortcuts, our "durable" goods are overflowing landfills. 

We believe durable goods should stay durable.  We believe it is companies' responsibility to deliver premium materials, excellent design, and thorough manufacturing.  We believe in our knives.

This is why we are covering each knife for 50 years of service.  Though we cannot claim our knives are indestructible - improper use of anything could destroy it - we believe under daily use, these knives will take care of you for half a century or longer.

As a global community, we literally can no longer afford to throw away the things we use every day.  We believe everyone should have access to well-designed tools that can perform exceptionally for a lifetime.

Risks and challenges

The number one risk is shipping timeline delays. We have tried to mitigate this by testing 14 different manufacturers to find our artisan partner who has over 20 years of experience and both the quality and quantity capacity for large orders.
