When Sean and his siblings, were driving home from a day out - he decided to voice out loud "What if there was a restaurant that had food based on memes?"
The idea was born. Over the course of the next few months - we worked hard at forming the idea, fleshing out the details. What would it look like? What kind of food? What's the demographic?
*What would it look like?
After drawing out our ideas we hired a group of artists to come up with sketches of the outside/inside that we envisioned. From the meme themed tables with tablets, to the juice/shake bar... we thought of everything!
* Next we thought... what kind of food? We're glad you asked!
We got a group of menu creators and chefs to give us their opinion of the best dishes that families like to eat. It was narrowed down to "Meme" menu.
*What's the demographic?
Everyone! This is a family friendly environment, with everyone of all ages welcome (although we're sure the YA/Teen crowd will enjoy it the most) - our goal is to make this a place for everyone to come together. To enjoy making memes, good food, and share some laughs with strangers!
We've set a goal amount of $350,000
This is to help with salaries, leasing, staffing, supplies, marketing etc...
We bet we know your next question...
"What experience do you have with restaurants?"
Us personally? None. But who says we can't learn?
Our family comes from a long line of chefs and restaurant owners. Starting with George C Bartoli of Chicago,Illinois - born to an immigrant italian family, he went on to run one of the most popular restuarants post WW2 -
Our Great Grandmother was a professional chef, while our grandmother spent most of her life in marketing (she was the first woman to run a major trade show, much like today's Comic Con).
Our father ran pizza restaurant chains (including Lamppost Pizza and Z Pizza), and is a master beer brewer.
In short, it runs in our veins... and with our entire family behind us, we can't fail!
The only thing left... is YOU!
Without your help or support, none of this is possible. So please share and donate. Even $1 is helpful! Share it on twitter, facebook, email chains, send it to your friends and family! The more people that see this, the better.
Thank you to the following people that made this possible:
@thilakarathnash for the video animation, @wallok for the sketches and design, @ibrar101 for the menu creation, @carlosbalarezo for initial idea sketches.
Risks and challenges
Every project has risks and challenges to overcome - here are a few we need to share with you.
1) The top two rewards of OMG and MEME MASTER can only be distributed once we reach our goal and the business is in the completion phase. If we cannot reach our goal, the money will be refunded and prizes will be nullified.
2) Obviously we hope to up and running by this time next year, but we can't guarantee an opening due to the fact we have to rely on others and their work to get this done. Leasing a building, hiring staff, buying supplies and making sure we're licensed properly could all take more time than we are estimating. So please be patient with us through this process - we promise that patience will yield beautiful results!
