Using a local letterpress printer, I want to make a batch of prints that say "Support Your Local Makers"
I'm really passionate about supporting makers who have opted to spend their livelihoods making products with their hands. And when I can find a maker that's local to me, even better! I think it's important to know who has made the products that you use, not necessarily be best friends with them, but to know their name, what they look like, where their workspace is, etc. I value this type of relationship between the maker and the client and I've been wanting to make a letterpress print that you can put up on a wall in your house or workspace or classroom - supporting this idea of trying to support your local makers.
This project is an extension of a website I run that focuses on these makers called Those Who Make - http://thosewhomake.com/
For the letterpress print, the style of the print will look similar to the image above. I'm hoping to work with a small NYC area based Letterpress Printer and will try to include a "5 Questions" interview with them, to give YOU more information on who is making these prints - http://thosewhomake.com/tagged/5-Questions/
The $900 is an estimated price for a run of 50 prints including packaging materials and shipping. Of course the more prints ordered, the more business I can bring to my local letterpress printer!
If you are interested in a different size or color, let me know and if there's enough interest, I can add more options to the rewards.
Thanks for reading and thanks for supporting makers!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
If funded, the challenge is finding the right letterpress printer who is available to do the job within a reasonable time frame. I've contacted a few printers already to get price quotes and the only setback is if they are already super busy, it may take a little longer to get the prints made.
