Frequently Asked Questions
The filters used in the mask have specific dimensions.
If you follow the required dimensions, the answer to the question is yes.
However, we strongly advise to use expertise designed filters for more effective performance, specially for extreme environments involving fine particles and virus infected areas.Last updated:
Any filter that fits onto the filter frames of the mask can be used.
Moreover, we will also have a constant supply of different filter types such as G4, F7 and FFP2*.
*Certespiri masks are on process of being certified as FFP2.Last updated:
The sound might be a little bit muffled, but it is still possible to clearly understand what you are saying.
We tried it out with the prototype on the phone and people didn’t realize that we were wearing a mask at all while speaking to them.
For the final version, we will reduce the wall thickness of the mask in front of the mouth even more to further improve the sound.Last updated:
Changing the filter depends on how exposed the filters are as well as what kind of filters are used.
A rule of thumb is to change the filter if the resistance of getting air through the filter increases.
If it comes to FFP2/N95 we suggest to change the filter at least everyday.Last updated:
Have you tested the Certespiri mask in various moisture and temperature conditions for condensation and resistance? What is the recommended temperature range?
The chosen materials have a big temperature resistance.
For the soft component, the temperature range is in between - 30 °C to + 95 °C.
The range of the hard component is even wider. It ranges from - 60 °C to + 120 °C.
Therefore, the resistance regarding temperature should be no issue for any weather condition.
The mask can be used at temperatures in between - 30 °C and + 45 °C.
As a physical effect condensation will take place inside of the mask, if we have a huge temperature difference between the outer and the inner side of the mask.
In the worst case, the moisture can be swept with a tissue.
After the material finds a temperature equilibrium, no more condensation takes place.
So after a short time, the mask will clear up allowing you to show your smile to others again :).Last updated:
I wear glasses and they get foggy all the time when wearing most masks. How do glasses work with the Certespiri mask?
Getting the N95 certificate means for us that the mask has to be closed towards the eyes and glasses completely.
Even without filters, the air is exchanged at the side of the mask, keeping it away from the glasses.
So no fogging on glasses with the new Certespiri mask.Last updated:
As the first stretch goal of 39,900 CAD is already reached, the different color set option is available for Early Birds Pack, Golden Pack, Double Pack and Team Pack.
For the hard component, you will be able to choose between the transparent colors: blue, light green, red and plain transparent, as well as you will also be able to choose to have it not transparent in black or in white.
For the soft component the options are white and black.Last updated:
Surely we will keep you updated about all the process we make, including FFP2 and N95 certification.
We are working eagerly to be certain of all requirements.
Even this might take longer than this campaign lasts, we are confident due to all preparation done already to achieve the goal.
Updates on the process will be delivered on a regular base during and after the campaign to let all backers know the actual status.Last updated:
Even if exposed long time to sunlight, the material we have chosen will stay clear. Therefore, for the plain transparent material we do not add any stabilizers regarding UV.
Because of this, we checked the mask outside continuously in bright sunlight for many weeks and there is no change in color or other wear.
In our tests, we found that only the masks with color in the transparent material are the only ones that are needed to add UV protection.
Therefore, for the masks that are colored in the transparent material, we added UV filter to reach high stability.Last updated:
We have planned to have two different sizes of masks later on.
The current one with 5 bends at the bottom is for people with a distance between chin and the root of the nose larger than 4.2 inches /107 mm.
The smaller one will have 2 bends at the bottom and is for adults and children with a smaller head.
The prototype of the smaller version fitted for example a six year old child as well as some grown ups.Last updated:
Due to the filters on the side, there is transparent material in front of the mouth to see the lips clearly.
Furthermore we reduce the wall thickness of the mask.
This has the advantage to improve the sound while speaking and that you can see the mouth more clearly.
In the future the transparent part will be increased a little bit further down to make sure, that you can see the lips even better.
One of the first updates shows a video with the influence of the wall thickness.
Here you can see Inka talk underneath a prototype mask.Last updated:
