Some of you may remember me as the former lead singer of Fight From Above. Others may remember me as the "guy with all that hair." Still others perhaps just as "that idiot who dresses up in winter clothes with his band in the dead of summer." Either way, what you may NOT know is that I have been working on a record the past six months and it is almost DONE.
THE PAST SIX MONTHS: I built a little studio in my home from parts cobbled together on Craigslist and recorded just about everything in a small bedroom in Silver Lake, slowly going mad between flashes of inspiration and Pro Tools crashes. I spent two weeks listening to nothing but Neil Young. I bought a tambourine. I have more shakers that you can shake a stick at. I taught myself the banjo. I wrote the first quarter of twenty songs, then threw away seventeen of them and wrote five more. I recruited other Miners and friends to sing and stomp. I read Kerouac and wandered California's central coast seeking enlightenment in the redwoods, meditated in a room filled with other musicians in West Hollywood, then roamed Central America and listened to no music at all except the sound of the Caribbean. Then, as if by magic, I realized I was almost done.
NOW: The album should be finished tracking within about a month, but now I need to get the MIX and MASTER done, which is not cheap. The mix will be performed by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Patrick Park, Built To Spill, Fight From Above) and the master most likely at our favorite Little Redbook Mastering studio. Just to get the music in its final form will cost approximately $4,000 -- SO I NEED ALL OF YOUR HELP TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN!
Obviously, I don't want something for nothing so please take a look at the rewards for your support on this project. It literally couldn't happen without you, and I will keep all of you updated on the latest with the record as it progresses. I don't get anything if we don't hit the goal, and any funds raised exceeding the goal will be put towards creating a physical product for the Luddites like myself who still like being able to touch their music.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my music in the past, and thank you to everyone who continues to do so.
