Our successful kickstarter campaign late last year raised £30,000 to shoot a new scifi mystery thriller web series.
Unfortunately, some of the backers' pledges failed, leaving us about £3000 short of the funds we needed to go into production (one of the hazards of kickstarter).
We went ahead anyway, hoping we could somehow get by without it.
With just 8 days to go until we are scheduled to start filming, we have found ourselves up against it to secure locations - it seems our original figures were tight as could be.
We need that £3000 or we might not make it into production next week.
Everything is close to being ready. The shoot is scheduled. The cast is prepared. Crew in the place. Equipment hire deals haggled almost to the point of drawing blood.
We've cut every possible cost we can from our budget. Crew are working for free or just enough to get by. But they are prepared to do it for the love of the project.
A huge amount of work has gone into this project already, so we really want that hard work to pay off by creating the best sci-fi possible.
All we need is that little bit of missing funds and we can make this show. We don't have time for a long campaign, so we have just 48 hours to make this happen!
It is the near future and research scientist Philip Hoyt’s wife is dying, quietly.
As she lies in a deep coma, Philip battles to save her life when everyone else is ready to let her go.
Using a newly developed technology, he steps across an electronic bridge into her unconscious; into her dreams and memories, probing buried ‘psi-complexes’ to discover the mystery of her illness, and her families reluctance to help.
Yet, through the veil of this mystery, he catches a faint glimmer of life. He holds on for the sake of love, unable to turn away from that distant star we call hope.
Risks and challenges
The job of making films always contains a certain amount of risk, no matter how much your budget. There have been epic failures at all levels of the film industry, a few involving some of the legends of cinema. Nobody can be a 100% certain of success.
Once the funds are in place, we hope to be filming by early to mid February. Most of the locations are interior, which means we will not be too vulnerable to the elements. We will have production insurance, contingency plans, and an experienced production team with a proven track record.
Once filming is over, we will try to get the first episode ready for viewing as soon as possible, aiming for March or early April.
Rewards will be delivered as close to our estimated time as we can manage, but remember you must also make sure to provide us with all the details we need by the deadline set. If you don’t give us your t-shirt size until after we have ordered them, for example, it can be difficult to get that reward to you. To get a single t-shirt printed outside of the main batch takes extra time and can be expensive.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
