Welcome to Thing 12 Games' 4th Kickstarter project: The Seals of Cthulhu! It's a strategic Lovecraftian-themed 2 player card game with a very unique visual style. Artist Son Duong used watercolors to hand paint each piece of art for the project. Please read our campaign below to learn more about this project. Join the community discussion to learn more about the gaming experience we want to create... with your help.

A quick-playing yet very strategic bidding and bluffing card game, set within a Cthulhian universe, where 2 players battle for the fate of the world.
One player assumes the role of an cultist, bent on bringing about the end of the world. The other plays an investigator seeking to thwart the cultist and save the world.
Players use the forces under their control to try and gain artifact cards, seeking to complete them and unlock powerful abilities. These artifacts also allow players to gain control of other cards...at the cost of giving them to their opponent.
You must outwit and out-strategize your opponent if you hope to win the battle.
"The player who last encountered a nightmarish horror that left them gibbering and unable to form thought will go first..."
And thus your duel begins in The Seals of Cthulhu.
How to play the game... in three images!
1) The investigator and the cultist each have 6 cards and 4 tokens.
2) The investigator chooses a card from her hand and places it face down. She then bids 2 of her tokens. At this point the cultist has a choice - he can either take the 2 tokens and let the investigator have the card OR he can bid 3 of his own tokens to try and win the card. In the second image, the cultist bids 3 tokens.
3) The investigator loses her card but gains 3 additional tokens. So while the cultist gained the early card advantage, the investigator has the bidding upper hand.
Now it would be the cultist's turn to try and gain a card or bidding tokens.
The game plays in 5 rounds. You attempt to collect both halves of an Elder God or artifact to use its power. Whoever has the most control points at the end of the game wins.
What are you willing to give up to gain?
Stay tuned for fun and exciting stretch goals to help improve and expand the game in mysterious ways!
Well done! The Elder God - Yog-Sothoth has now been added to the game. This adds two cards to the base game.
Next up is a 'Card Improvement' goal at $17K USD that improves our card quality to 350g white core and adds a linen finish.
Cloth drawstring bag has been added to the game!
An envelope of mysterious origin and content has shown up. Will it appear in your games? We're very excited for this, because it does something we've never seen done in any other game! Let's see if we can get it added for everyone!
We'll be partnering with fulfillment companies in AU, CA, and EU. These companies will be facilitating fulfillment for their regions.
Our goal is to improve the fulfillment experience for our backers and minimize delays, confusion, and lost packages .
During our previous campaigns, we were able to talk with a variety of board game retailers to understand what is important to them. The two big themes were Kickstarter advantages beyond distribution, and not wanting to have cash locked up in a Kickstarter campaign for a long duration of time.
So with our 'In the Vault' retailer tier, we are hoping to address those issues for our retailer partners. A $25 deposit gets you into our 'better than distribution' program.
You'll be able to get the game at better than distribution prices (60% off MSRP) through Thing 12 Games as long as you want to carry the game in your store. You'll also have priority ahead of distributor orders.
Once you've backed at this tier let's start a conversation to understand what makes the most sense for your store. You won't need to pay the invoice until we have the product ready to ship out to you.
If you're a retailer, please contact Sean at email@example.com during the campaign to discuss.
Thing 12 Games is a team of passionate game developers with decades of combined experience in the video game industry. We have a love of the tangible camaraderie that only comes from gathering around a kitchen table, and engaging in adversarial Cthulhian showdowns with your friends and family.
Sean Epperson: After the follow up to last year's award winning Click Click Boom, Sean left to seek out eldritch knowledge and power for further game designs. When he returned he was...changed...filled with an unearthly light babbling in a language long dead. Luckily we were able to sit him down long enough to transcribe the rules and design the cards, before we had to lock him away. When not gibbering about creatures found in non-Euclidean geometry, he records a podcast with the Board Game Alliance on BJ's Geek Nation podcast network, and scrawling mad notes about future Thing 12 games. We should all be worried.
Son Duong is the games amazing illustrator. He has designed waterskis and wakeboards for companies like Byerly and Hyperlite, as well as graphics for various companies like O’Neill, ProTec, Reef, Skullcandy, Scion and Ladera skateboards. He paints and draws every day, and you can follow his work on instragram at @son_of_a_gun1969 or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/soagart/

Kris Quistorff is our staff marketing artist, responsible for pulling together our product videos, manuals, info graphics, product mock-ups, Kickstarter art, and trying to wrangle the beast that is Kickstarter page management.
Sean Harrold is a video game industry veteran by day and a 'creatives' wrangler by night. He started Thing 12 Games with the goal of creating a safe space for all of his artist and designer friends. He manages all of the 'business' side of making games so that his friends can focus on being creative.

Risks and challenges
This is our 4th Kickstarter project as a development team.
We are constantly learning and refining our process. As a team, we strive to make the highest quality product for our backers. With this focus on quality, it could potentially impact our projected delivery timeline. Now we have padded our timeline to allow for iteration, as well as time to deal with the unknowns that ALWAYS come up on these campaigns.
With any project, there are a variety of variables that need to be managed. It is a challenge to create a game, manufacture, ship to the warehouse, and fulfill for our backers. We are working hard to minimize as much risk as possible. The game design and art have been completed for the project, and we are ready to take the next steps in getting this game in front of everyone.
The biggest challenge that we see for this project is the complexity of backer fulfillment. To minimize that risk we are partnering with fulfillment companies in AU, CA, and the UK. This helps with the final step of the process - the delivery to backers.
Another challenge that we've faced on previous projects is being able to engage with backers after the campaign closes. We'll be utilizing Pledge Manager to have each backer complete their order and provide us with shipping information. To minimize address changes and incorrect shipping, we'll be rolling out this service a few months after the project closes. Also, we'll be keeping it open as long as possible to allow for everyone to get us their shipping addresses.
We are consistently monitoring the project and working hard to remove as much risk as we can. We take pride in engaging with each and every one of you.
If you have any questions about the project development, please ask us. We are striving to be as transparent as possible.
