Born on the Intracoastal Waterways of North Carolina, a lifestyle of sand and sun fuels Legacy Eyewear. As the waves crash on our white sand beaches and the sun rises over the marshes, we toil away in a dusty wood shop. A pursuit to create the best eyewear is underway, made from natural materials, that will stand the test of time.
Each pair is put through rigorous scrutiny for both quality and finish. All of our sunglasses come with the best polarized lenses available, 100% UVA/UVB protection, flex hinges, plus most of our sunnies float!
For an extremely limited time, our handmade sunglasses will be available to Kickstarter backers at wholesale pricing. After our Kickstarter the Legacy Line will only be available at retail pricing, so be sure to get your pair at this amazing exclusive price! We are doing this because we think the whole world should experience the lightweight and amazing feel of handmade eyewear.
We are driven by the need for affordable, rugged eyewear that makes a true statement. We feel akin to this land, and by using native materials our wearers feel a sense of pride knowing that they're sporting a truly unique piece of American history.
Our history is filled with people who’ve created a story that will stand the test of time. Each of our frames is named for a signer of the Declaration Of Independence from the State where that wood originated.
Let us be a part of YOUR Legacy!
The Hoopers are made from American Black Walnut sourced from the heart of Appalachia, in Western North Carolina. The classic Wayfarer styling looks great on all faces. They are truly timeless.
The Franklins are hewn from the great oaks of Pennsylvania. An amazingly dense american hardwood, the Franklins are then stained to darken and enhance the wood grain.
The Livingstons come to life from the sugar maples of New York. Maple is widely sought after for it’s amazing look and consistent quality. We salvage our maple from old buildings, giving it character like no other. We then finish by hand distressing them to add an extra touch of style.
The Waltons are sourced from the highly sought after American black cherry coming from Georgia. The hills of Georgia produce some of the biggest and most gorgeous black cherry we’ve seen. We heat treat our cherry giving it a deep black finish.
The Wythes are constructed of a stainless steel frame and assembled with Virginia Black Locust. This very dark heart wood is truly stunning.

Risks and challenges
We've got a few production runs under our belt. We've tested and checked. Our machines are well oiled, and we've been cleaning the dust from our equipment. While we don't foresee any issues, it's always great to be ready for them.
We are fully confident in our ability to make your new sunglasses, the only potential issue would be a delay in production. If a piece of our equipment breaks we may be delayed. If this were to happen we will notify all our backers and keep you in the loop as we get back up and running!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
