About this project
We believe everyone should be able to enjoy this film for FREE - So our kickass rewards go beyond the final product because that will be 100% Free! Did we mention this film will be FREE.
Something is wrong in Slender Valley. When residents start to go missing in the vast forests, Park Ranger Sherman, and Deputy Ranger Lewis take on the chore of leading search expeditions. But someone knows more than they are letting on and Slender Valley can't keep it's secret forever... or can it?
The Woodsmen aims to be THE BEST BIGFOOT FILM EVER MADE. No found footage, no shaky, blurry, out of focus shots of Bigfoot. We will be shooting the entire film on Red Helium Cameras in crystal clear 8K. When you see Bigfoot you will see him in all his glory. We are currently working with a leading VFX company to ensure audiences get the Bigfoot they deserve.
If you have been waiting for a Bigfoot film where you actually get to see Bigfoot, clearly, then The Woodsmen is for you. You won't be disappointed.
Five Year Plan is a creative team based in Belleville, ON, Canada. Comprised of Victor Cooper, Jodi Cooper, Rob Howsam, and Kirsten Wight, this team has been writing, developing, and bringing characters to life for the past three years. With almost two decades of television and film experience under their collective belts they can't wait to show you their next project.
The Woodsmen is an ambitious project and although $11,500.00 is a ton of money, it's actually considered a Micro Budget even for a short film. Much of the money will go toward Cast and Crew. It takes a lot of people to bring magic to the screen and we are firm believers that if you pay peanuts... you get monkeys. There are five major acting roles in the film, tons of extras, and let's not forget crew. And remember, all those people need to eat, and working long days in the wilderness their going to be hungrier than a teenage Bigfoot.
Some of the locations we are shooting will have rental fees and getting there isn't free either. There will be travel cost to get everyone to set each day as well as rehearsal and scouting travel.
So sure, we could give you a Bigfoot film for less, but there's enough of those films out there already. We believe the next Bigfoot film needs to be The Best Bigfoot Film Ever Made - Period.
One of the things we are very excited about is the script itself. We have spent countless hours bringing the characters of Slender Valley to life and we can't wait to share them with you.
It all started with the character design by Yoshi Aoki
Then of course we have to actually create the suit. The creature is being taken care of by The Butcher Shop Makeup and FX. The suit is already made and fully functional as you can see in the trailer.
We still have a few tweaks we'd like to make but we couldn't be happier with our choice of artist to bring The Woodsmen to life.
The Butcher Shop has an impressive lineup of films they have worked on.
Victor Cooper has been producing and directing outdoor adventure television for nearly a decade. Recently he co-wrote and directed a short horror film entitled MERCY with his wife Jodi. The film received an overwhelming response and one critic even said...
"It's films like these, regardless of length, that prove the Canadian film scene hasn't crawled under the deck to die just yet" - Horror Movie Newz
" Mercy Noble is the coolest female horror protagonist to walk the screen since the first Scream came out." - Reel Dude Reviews
The Woodsmen crew understand that sometimes the special features are as good as the final product. That's why we'll be keeping everyone up to date with posts and photos. Those backers at the Slender Valley Citizen level and above will receive links to our Behind The Trees (clever right) episodes.
Here's your first look at how things got started in the making of The Woodsmen suit.
With Ontario's rugged backcountry at our finger tips we are sure to give you an authentic experience. And putting the actors on location rather than a set or a green screen means you'll get convincing performances.
Vantage Point Media House is the proud owner of two Red Heliums. These cameras are some of the very best in the world and we believe that if we're going to break the chain of blurry Bigfoot films, we might as well do it in 8K. (That's TWELVE times HD)
Premiere Pro has quickly become a leader in the editing world and that's why we've chosen it to take on the task of telling the story of The Woodsmen. We will then move the film over to Davinci Resolve for colouring. A film can take on a whole new layer of life when it hits the colouring room. But only if you have a great artist behind the wheel. Rob Howsam has been colouring our projects at Vantage Point Media House for years and we couldn't be happier to have him on board to make Bigfoot POP! See some of his vision below.
Well, that's it. We've taken every step possible to insure that this project is a success, now it's up to you. We want you to be part of this crazy journey.
In the words of the late great Wes Craven - “Horror films don’t create fear. They release it.”
Risks and challenges
Of course any film project poses a risk, and admittedly filming outdoors can add to that risk. That's why Vantage Point Media House is taking the reins. VPMH has produced over 120 hours of outdoor television and in that time we've never missed an air date and never gone over budget. Our budget for this film is modest but practical. We have accounted for every detail and having the experience we do with outdoor filming we are confident that we will be prepared for anything. Every possible step is being taken to ensure that your money is used responsibly and to it's fullest potential. After the film is complete there will be no hoops to jump through as the film will be FREE to the world online. We are confident that not only will you see your hard earned money at work but the rest of the world will too.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
