YES!!!! we reached our appeal target - BUT PLEASE NOTE, THE APPEAL AMOUNT IS ONLY A QUARTER OF WHAT WE REALLY NEED! Thank you so much for the support so far, but please keep supporting! Lets make this project amazing!!!!
Following my works in China produced as part of my ongoing series www.theweirdgirlsproject.com in 2011 and 2012 sponsored by Converse, I discovered that the Chinese women I worked with had an entirely different relationship with the camera compared to the work I have so far produced in the western world.
From 24th September until 14th December I will be staying in Shanghai for an artists residency at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel.
During this 3 month period I plan to produce a multimedia piece titled 'Intimacy; Don't be afraid' for which I am appealing for help to fund.
The piece will focus on 4 different Chinese women and involves a series of interviews and performances exploring their reactions and relationship with the camera, both in video and still imagery. The aim is to encourage a comfort within the women and to progressively work with them during the 3 months, producing portraits of them in abstract surroundings, that reflects how they view themselves throughout the project.
The end result will be an installation in December and upon further funding, a fully produced short film released in spring 2013.
Your help will be put towards the cost of producing this intimate piece. Please note the figure appealed for is not the full cost.
