Dear Fans of The Veer Union,
As some of you may already know, the last few years for THE VEER UNION have been extremely difficult and sometimes seemingly impossible to recover from after all that we have been through. We have accrued an extreme amount of debt from past record deals, which has put the band into financial anguish, unfortunately causing internal conflict within the band. There has never been anything else in the world that I have personally wanted to do with my life other than music. I have sacrificed time and time again to be able to live my dream to create art and have people connect with it. I have never in the past cared about being rich and famous and my feelings remain the same today. I feel I owe it to myself, and to the fans, to keep pushing forward with The Veer Union. I have put together a new line up of musicians that are some of the best I have ever worked with, and I am writing some of the best material I have ever written in my life. I wish my old band mates the best with their future, as they will always be more than friends to me - they are my family - but sometimes we need to take a step back so that we can move forward again.
I have written and recorded a brand new song called "The World I Wanted" with the new members of the band. This song depicts the depression and personal struggles I have been through during the last 6 months after finding myself on my own. As some of you may now be aware, we are in the midst of a revolution of the music industry. Over the last couple of years, we have seen band after band breaking up or restructuring their lineups, including The Veer Union. What many people don't realize is that the heart of this problem lies within financial strain. The music industry is changing rapidly as we all know, but I personally think companies like Kickstarter are paving the way for real artists to have careers by closing the gap between bands and their fans, making it possible for careers to flourish and bands to continue doing what they love. This is why The Veer Union needs your help NOW more than ever. This brand new song is available for purchase as part of our KICKSTARTER campaign. One of the great things about Kickstarter is that there is no record company taking a cut of the profits, which means the fans are directly responsible for the success and future of the band. We have started recording a brand new EP called "Life Support Part I". This record is the most special to me that we have ever made because it is a record made possible by the fans, for the fans, as you are our "LIFE SUPPORT" and we can't wait to see you all out on tour in 2013.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope we can embark on this new journey together.
Risks and challenges
We have pooled all of our resources together to make this recording happen, we have already set up a studio that is equipped to get us through the recording process, using equipment we already have. Mixing and mastering have to take place elsewhere. In some circumstances this could lead to a delay but having already lined up the personnel required to complete the project, our delivery dates should be met on time.
We will be making video updates throughout the progress of the recording and we will be available through Kickstarter, Facebook and Twitter to answer questions while we get the opportunity to make an amazing recording with you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
