New Goal

With that, let's set a new goal while the momentum is up, with all funds going to the general account of Surfrider Foundation Santa Barbara Chapter! How about we try to shoot for $90,000? We are about $12,000 shy of that at the moment... A quick recap of the goal of the project are:

  • Create The Twenty - a Surfrider Foundation Film to show the importance of preservation of this beautiful, unique & diverse coastline. Did you know it is 1 of 5 Mediterranean-type ecosystems worldwide which comprise 2% of the Earths surface & 20% of the worlds plant species?
  • Create the Gaviota Coast Legal Defense Fund to support ongoing legal expenses for preservation
  • Launch “$20 for 20 Miles” grassroots fundraising campaign for permanent preservation of the Gaviota Coast
  • Create a groundswell of support of “first responders” who will mobilize to block development (SB County Supervisors and Coastal Commission)

With this, these overage funds will be used to go directly into the general account for all future expenses they may arise for the Santa Barbara Chapter... When we set the goal for the project and expenses we certainly low balled, so that we could be confident on success.

Please feel free to email us directly. You can reach our Chapter Chair, Sandy Lejeune, at santabarbara@surfrider.org

With great appreciation, gratitude and love,
