THE SPINE (or how we came up with this idea)
We came up with an idea while reading yet another and another and another news about children left behind by parents who have emigrated in search of work and better life. Although the movie takes place in a small country of Lithuania (the red dot on the map), the children left behind by emigrated parents is a worldwide phenomenon. These kids are left with their relatives or acquaintances while some of them are being taken care of by no one. Therefore we think this problem needs to be discussed. And call us crazy, but we believe this movie will make people stop for a moment and think. All for the sake of children, and we need your help.
The story revolves around a little girl called Milda, a modern-day Pippi Long-stocking, who fights her loneliness with a help of her imagination and fantasies.
One day she is told by a strange woman that her parents, whom she has not seen in three years, have been kidnapped by the Queen of England. So she packs her stuff and heads for a rescue. Her travel by car, bus and train finally brings her to the big city only to experience the biggest change in her life - she grows up.
THE BRAINS (or why this topic?)
In this new XXI world people tend to migrate and change their living place from one country to another. But sometimes they leave their small children behind. And sometimes they forget they ever had children (they stop calling, visiting). And it happens all over the world – children with alive parents are living as though their mother and father are dead.
This topic touches hundreds of thousands of kids around the globe. We want to help them, we want to be their voice. We want their parents to call them after they see this film. We want to start a discussion about how to help these lonely children. Not to judge the adults, rather show how children feel.
To be more accurate we are collaborating with organization “Save the Children Lithuania” and with kids psychologists.
THE EYES (or facts that we read in Lithuanian newspapers and that inspired us)
Extracts from interviews with psychologists:
•Approximately one third of children become more angry or introverted, develop new fears, start failing at school and crying more often than they used to before parents’ migration.
•They (kids) perceive parents’ departure as their own renouncement – a point in life after which they will have no father and no mother anymore.
Extracts from interviews with emigrated parents:
•I stayed home for three months, and then I left again. Obviously, she doesn’t understand what sort of period three months is, she’s only a child... I left, and she waited for a week, for two weeks, and then – a total hysteria, all hell broke loose...

THE WINGS (it is about YOU all and small presents)
Something small to remember that you helped the project.
We know that you are creative too. And nice ideas needs the nice notebook. The engraved girl on top of it to remember..
It is the soul of this project and its prototype is going to be used in the film. Our director is still working on the looks of the real movie doll, therefore its appearance might slightly change. The only constant is that it is specially designed for this project and hand-made.
Something very special
Your name and surname, or a photo if you wish, will be featured in the movie in one of the scenes. Consider it product placement.
The very very special
After the last shot, the crew will sing your favorite song and this will be filmed and sent to you together with the movie in hard-copy form.
THE LIPS AND EARS (or questions and answers)

OF COURSE! Just let us know and we will send the reward to that someone you care.
How are we going to spend the money?
Props, decorations, light and camera crew, visual effects, wardrobe and location fees.

Risks and challenges
Every movie is a chalenge. And we know we will meet a lot of obstacles on the way. Things that can go wrong:
1. Weather issues during the shoot (we will be working on having rain cover sets);
2. We will have young actress almost every day and kids are difficult to predict (we are already rehearsing with our little hero, so that she could feel safe and sound in the shooting set);
3. We have lots of Visual effects (VFX) in the new script and that can take more time than we have already planned (to solve that director will start working on storyboard earlier than planned);
4. Permissions to shoot on locations such as airport and train station (we hope we will get those, worst case scenario - we will fake them).
We are very passionate with this project and our crew is getting bigger. More and more people and organisations are joining to help us with the topic of the left children. Don't be outsider - come and join our initiative!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
