Wow folks, we are SO CLOSE! We can't say thank you enough times to express our utmost gratitude and appreciation of your support. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
As we approach the final days and final dollars of our campaign, we also want to encourage you to continue to support the project. While our original goal on Kickstarter was $5,000, we actually need to raise about $475 more to meet our expense budget. That's about 2.2 more days in the studio than we currently have the funding for!
So, if you haven't pledged yet, today's the day! Every dollar donated makes this project stronger.
Thanks again for the awesome outpouring of love and support, we can't wait for you to see and hear this record!
The Thoughts is a Seattle-based band made up of Ian Williams (vocals and guitar), Katie Mosehauer (violin and harp), and Jon Horwath (drums). We have been hard at work on our second album, I Won’t Keep You Here, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Just for stopping by our Kickstarter page, we’d love for you to have a free music file (.WAV) of Orange Sky, the first song on the record:

As we decided on a collection of music to include on the new album, we found ourselves drawn to 11 songs that share a common thread. These songs all take place in a dream-world, where time shifts and moves. There are literal wolves, figurative wolves, bones, souls, love, and things we try to reach but can never...quite...get that bind these songs together.
We’ve brought our project to Kickstarter because we want I Won’t Keep You Here to be more than a listening experience. We want to hand our stories, our sounds, to a group of super-talented filmmakers and artists and let them create what THEY see. And then we want to share it with you on a multi-media CD. You can sit back, listen to the songs weave through heartache and hope, and watch I Won’t Keep You Here unfold before you.
However, we can’t do it without you. We act as our own record label and self-fund recording, production, and promotion costs, and all the leg work that goes with it. Sadly, those obligations don’t leave us funds left over to invest in the extra things that make for a really great project—it costs $500 to master the final production, $2,500 to press multi-media CDs, $1,000 to compensate collaborating artists for their materials expenses, and $1,000 just to tell the world what we’ve done.
We hope you’ll make a pledge to our MusicArtMovement project today. Whether you can give a little or a whole lot, every dollar helps. And we wouldn’t ask you to give something without giving you something in return, so we’ve got a whole slew of goodies to offer you for your support. While you might get the coolest song in the world written just for you (or about you) or a homemade gourmet cake delivered to your next birthday party, what you really get is that awesome warm fuzzy feeling from knowing that you’ve helped build bridges within the artistic community, foster collaboration between mediums, and bring some really amazing artwork to oodles and oodles of people.
The songs on I Won’t Keep You Here are filled with all manner of ukuleles, harps, guitars, glockenspiels, violins, and percussion. We've invited an equally diverse group of filmmakers and artists to match:
John Rizzotto, oil painter
Dorian Nuskind-Oder, choreographer, dancer, filmmaker
Erinn Clancy, filmmaker
Lauren Klenow, three dimensional and animation artist
Katie Mosehauer, visual artist
We know that together, we're going to make something really special. Thanks for your interest in the project, and for your support of the arts.
