We began producing The Tennis Podcast in May 2012 and spent the first four years recording, editing, promoting and paying for the show ourselves until we realised we could do it no longer.
Our first annual Kickstarter in 2017 helped us to hire an editor and produce 106 podcasts, including daily editions at the Grand Slams for the first time.
Our 2018 Kickstarter enabled to us buy new equipment, hire part-time staff, including Grad Matt, and publish 115 editions, adding dailies at the ATP Finals, Queen's and the Davis Cup final.
Now, with our 500th episode expected in January, we want to do even more, including giving Grad Matt a proper job! He is a fantastic story - coming to us as Student Matt in 2015, interning between his study sessions, then graduating and working for us throughout the second half of 2018, before taking to the airwaves with us at the ATP Finals!
We hope you agree that he has been a fantastic addition, and we want to keep him with us.
We have many categories for you to consider crowdfunding us in, but you can also contribute at a level of your choosing without reward, if you prefer. We are grateful to everyone that supports us, so pledge whatever the podcast is worth to you, but ultimately what you can afford.
Thank you for your support.
Catherine, David, and hopefully soon, full-time Matt!
Risks and challenges
We have over-delivered with both of our two annual Kickstarters to-date, producing more podcasts (in excess of 220 shows) than promised in both 2017 and 2018. We have maintained a high production quality throughout, and the feedback we have had has been very positive.
With that in mind, unless we endure health issues or similar beyond our control, we are confident that we can deliver (and over-deliver) once again.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
