The Complete SNES is a comprehensive near 500 page Super Nintendo Collector's Book. Like with my previous project, to my knowledge there has not been a comprehensive book on the Super Nintendo that has covered every game released with complementary artwork! Aside from the licensed and unlicensed US releases, this book will also include PAL exclusives, Competition Carts, Homebrew Games and even accessories. We are striving to make this the Ultimate source for the Super Nintendo!
The book itself will be optimal quality with a large 8.5" by 11" size, around 500 beautiful color pages with a glossy hard cover; perfect for a coffee table! This is also completely consistent with the previous book releases and will look perfect next to them on a shelf.
We are also trying to create a second book called the Super Nintendo Compendium to go along with the main book. This secondary book is available to back right at the launch of the project and we will be able to do a full print run once we hit our first stretch goal!
For the main body of the book we are keeping the formatting consistent with our previous Collector Book releases by still giving a minimalist view with a brief synopsis for each game: including a picture of the box art, screenshot, developer, publisher, release date and a detailed amount of players. Inconsistent things such as rarity and genre are still not included as those are typically topics that cause conflict amongst gamers. We also still kept the large check boxes so you can note if you have the cartridge, box and/or manual for each game. Finally, things such as cartridge and manual images are still avoided as they would simply take up space since many have the same art as the boxes. As always we are bringing you the most concise and streamlined approach to a collector's guide in an amazing book format!
- 700+ North American Game Reviews
- System Review, Accessories and Controllers
- PAL Exclusive Releases
- Holy Grails
- Unreleased Games
- Homebrew Reviews
The Super Nintendo Compendium will be a second book we are releasing once the secondary funding is met. This will have 100-200 pages of SNES amazingness!
- Personal Super Nintendo Stories
- Supplemental Articles
- Backer Contributed Expanded Reviews
- Notable Super Famicom Games
- Expanded Essential SNES Game Reviews
By popular request, this time around certain games will also be expanded upon with more personal stories. This also opens up the opportunity for backers to write about their favorite SNES games as well, which is now available as special backers tiers and gives you the ability to contribute if you want to! Note: We are shooting for this section to be part of its own book! However, there will still be expanded reviews included in The Complete SNES even if the stretch goal isn't hit.
There are multiple supplemental articles and personal stories from contributors from around the world, plus you will have the opportunity to contribute your own to the book!
- Console Wars - Nintendo versus Sega
- Hidden SNES Gaming Gems
- Collecting for the SNES and Prices
- Community Collaborator SNES Stories
- SNES Oddball Items
- Launch of the Super Famicom
- Super Famicom Hidden Gems
- SNES Fan-Translated Games
- The SNES Reproduction Scene
- The Story of the Exertainment Bike
- Playing the SNES in Modern Times
Unlocked! - Time for free stuff! All physical book backers will get a free custom designed SNES sticker with artwork designed specifically for this project!
Unlocked - Book Expansion! The project will be split into two separate books, instead of one gigantic "tome". The Complete SNES will still be its own near-500 page entity. However, all of the expanded reviews, backer contributed reviews and supplemental articles will become a second 200 page compendium, with many many many more expanded reviews added! This entire extra book will be in the graphical style of the Video Game Culture Chronicles Patreon series and will be a great complementary piece, while not taking anything away from the main Collector's book.
Unlocked - More Free Stuff! All physical book backers will get a free custom designed SNES bookmark complete with artwork designed specifically for this project!
@ $40,000 - Ribbon Bookmark Upgrade! There will be a ribbon bookmark attached to both books to give it a classic look and feel. (Note: If we cannot add the ribbon bookmark for some reason, we will instead add a second free bookmark with a different custom design for all physical book backers)
@ $50,000 - Perforated Game Checklist! In the back of The Complete SNES there will be a perforated checklist for those of you that don't want to take the book out with you on the go.

With the Complete NES project, there were sections we decidedly put as stretch goals, that we were just shy of funding. In order to avoid other people from releasing a similar book 6 months down the road, and capitalizing on this missing content from ours, this time around we are including everything from the beginning! So more personalized game stories, PAL exclusives, Accessories, Grails, Homebrew Games and much more are already included within this book from the get go! The stretch goals will instead allow us to do cool things with the project that we would not be able to accomplish without your support!
We are also able to drop the price-per-book down this time around for those people who support us on Kickstarter. If we can get more of the same great support from the community, as we did with The Complete NES, allowing backers to save some money is the easiest way we can say thanks!
I also am offering International Shipping again with this project, however as everyone knows rates have increased dramatically. I have calculated International shipping costs based on book weights from my last release and they are unfortunately unavoidably more than last time. (*UPDATE* - if shipping ends up being lower than what we have put in there, due to not being able to modify shipping per country, the difference will be reimbursed back to you!) Stateside shipping remains unchanged from the last project.
Finally with our last project, having a game associated, that had not yet been developed, was a hurdle that backers had to wait on (and unfortunately still are...). We did not have the foresight to sync up releases and the book was completed way before the game. While getting a brand new game is an amazing thing, this time around I decided not to associate the book with a SNES homebrew game, even though there were a few offers. That way backers won't have to wait on anything else before they can get their books!
I decided to drop the overhead by 5% due to not associating with a game this time around. 80% book printing & shipping from publisher and 10% Kickstarter fees 10% production costs and advertising.
I can never say it enough, but thank you again for all the support with this book project. I love how this has become a community project, evolving from my original idea into what it is today. It honestly blows me away and I am eternally grateful for all the amazing support! Also, even if you are not interested in this book right now, take a couple seconds and share this Kickstarter project with someone who might be. If they love the SNES or classic gaming in general, they might enjoy this book!
Here are a few projects that were cool enough to cross promote with us. Click on the images to see what other cool inventors & developers are up to!

Risks and challenges
This campaign is a true grass-roots project and we are the definition of the term indie. Our goal is to make this Kickstarter interactive with all backers, having fan interaction, backer submitted game reviews, polls and even online gaming opportunities; as in the end we are gamers and collectors too, just like you!
This campaign strives to be as self sufficient, and give back to the community, as much as possible. Not only is each person involved with the project responsible for their part; you, as the backer, will also be directly supporting them and their endeavors. You are helping us make everything possible and on a much larger scale. This is the true meaning of a diverse community project, and everything, from the perk pricing to the stretch goals, has been structured as such. We have tried to add as many bonuses to reward tiers as we can to make each reward tier worthwhile and think outside of the box for ways to create special limited edition items for those that are interested.
Talking with multiple other creators of successful Kickstarter campaigns, their biggest problem was not accounting for "Overhead" when running their projects. Due to those conversations, we decided that the easiest way to cover this is to account a simple 20% for all overhead expenses. This means Kickstarter fees, taxes, excess shipping/packaging costs, etc are all accounted for within each item's price.
As for challenges, the main portion of The Complete SNES is finished, so there will be less waiting time involved for backers! That being said, there could be unforeseen circumstances, out of our control, that delay this process, such as waiting on book backer contributors. Our pledge to you is that we will keep all backers up to date with anything that happens with the project, typically through monthly updates here on Kickstarter. We want to keep you involved as much as possible as this is your project as much as it is ours!
All tiers will be released as they are completed, which will all be shipped out at the same time. Combination tiers will be shipped as one package, in order to save on shipping costs and avoid confusion. We will put out a poll after the completion of the Kickstarter, once the initial items are ready to be shipped out, that will have an address field for all backers with a physical reward. It is extremely important for this to be up-to-date as this will be the address we use for shipping rewards! It is also very important to specify any add-on items you may have purchased, such as adding in the Compendium Book or other books.
Thank you for supporting our endeavor and we look forward to seeing how much of this we can make a reality for everyone!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
