A short animation film made using Sharpie pens and an old Mac Mini.
What : This is an experimental short film about a dapper little animal spirit named Cabbit who goes about its day exploring the wonders of the natural world. Oblivious to the presence the human world, Cabbit merrily goes on a long walk to meet another kindred spirit for a tea dance. Cabbit's first encounter with a human occurs when it is nearly run over by an automobile driven by a couple of wreckless humans. Cabbit eventually meets up with its friend by a willow tree where they have some tea, dance, witness a solar eclipse, and experience an apocalyptic comet that brings the humans to their knees. Oblivious to all the ensuing chaos, the Cabbit and friend continue exploring as human civilization burns with fiery abandon.
How : I have been working on this short film for about 3 years now. It all started with a little sketch, followed by a few months of trying to get comfortable with a style and technique that I was happy with. All images are hand drawn on watercolor board using Sharpie Ultra Fine point pens. The images are colored and compiled on a used Mac Mini I picked up on craigslist, edited and spliced using Quicktime Pro and iMovie 08. This is my second fundraising drive for this film. Here is the link to the first successful campaign : http://kck.st/lus10C
What Else : Although most of the animation and sound work have been completed with the help of the last kickstarter campaign (thank you), we still need to raise about $5000 to cover 5.1 mixing, the online edit and grade, website expenses, DVD replication and festival entry. No donation is too small and everything will go towards giving this film a fair chance in the coming festival season.
