About this project
UPDATE: YOU'RE AMAZING! As we buy plane tickets, confirm our van and gear rentals, make ferry arrangements, buy International Driver's Permits, prepare to ship merch and more, we're breathing a huge collective sigh of relief thanks to you.
Total upfront expenses for this tour are more than $10,000. (The primary plane tickets alone were $4,410.) Hitting this Kickstarter goal makes such a difference for us, and every post-$6K contribution continues to make this better and more possible. We deeply appreciate your support and we'll continue to cheer and weep in the final days of this campaign.
Can't wait to share these new songs with you, whether in person or through the beauty of high-definition internet video. Thank you for everything. xoxoxo.
After five years of people asking us to play for them all over the world, the Shondes are finally embarking on our first-ever European tour!
We've been hard at work this summer writing new songs, and we can't wait to share them with you. (Really. We think they're pretty magical.) We've got six weeks of shows lined up.
Unlike our United States tours, though, a European tour means huge up-front costs beyond the scope of what we can do. Plane tickets! Ferry tickets! Visas! Van rental! Gear rental ('cause we can't carry drums and amps in backpacks)! Printing and shipping tour posters!
We're taking as much of the cost on ourselves as we can, but we're asking you to help us bridge the gap.
Why should you care if you're not in Europe? Well, we’ll be accompanied by the fabulous Emily Millay Haddad (Circles of Fire Productions), whose work you may have seen on our YouTube channel (the "Give Me What You've Got" music video, the album trailers, many of the live videos). She'll be filming us on- and off-stage throughout the tour, interviewing us and posting vlogs throughout so you can see what we’re up to. So those new songs we mentioned? You'll get to hear and see gorgeous videos of them being performed on stages across continental Europe and the United Kingdom!
In addition to the shows themselves, we’ll be spending the Jewish High Holidays in Germany and Poland and we'll visit some of the villages where some of our ancestors are from (shtetls in Poland and a tiny town in Ireland!). We’ll be connecting with activists, feminist and queer community organizers, and amazing musicians everywhere. We are so looking forward to it.
So European fans: help us get to you! Fans in the United States and elsewhere: help us live the dream and make beautiful live videos to share our newest songs with you! We’ll come back ready to hit the ground running and play awesome new material for you.
