WHO ARE WE?
Hi! We are THE SEA THE SEA, Chuck e. Costa & Mira Stanley, a harmony-based, electro-acoustic, indie folk duo. During our just-over-two-years as a band we've been incredibly blessed not only to be able to make our living by touring and playing music, but to have had the opportunity to meet so many of you! We could not have accomplished what we have so far without you. Thank you.
As some of you know, earlier this year we flew across the country to record our very first album together, LOVE WE ARE WE LOVE, with the incredible folks at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA, produced by one of our favorite people/artists/producers, Todd Sickafoose, with additional fantastic musical contributions by: Matthew Szemela, Adam Levy, Jonny Rodgers, Theresa Wong, John Santos, & Jordan Glenn. The album has been finished for a few months now, and we are SO PROUD of how it turned out. Not only does it sound great, but the incredible creative minds at The Made Shop made it look beautiful as well. Check it out:

NOW it's time to spread the LOVE WE ARE WE LOVE!
We've been holding off on an OFFICIAL release so that we could take some time to assemble a knowledgeable, experienced promotional team, additional artist collaborators, create an informed, logistically sound release plan, as well as to save up some of our own funds to contribute. Those pieces are in place, ready for a February 25, 2014 release, so now we're ready to give our debut record a proper send-out into the world! But, first, we need your help...
We've had some really incredible financial support from friends and family during this process, but for the most part we've covered the costs of recording our album, existing promotional materials, and a significant portion of what will be our promotional campaign on our own. We feel really good about that, but we also know that with your added help, we can do SO MUCH more! Plus, we're strong believers in the power of community, and we love the idea of this project belonging to all of us.
THE BUDGET :
The minimum amount we need (beyond the funds we've saved) to cover the costs of our official US Release which will include a publicist to manage all publicity regarding the US release of LOVE WE ARE WE LOVE, radio promoter who will send copies of and elicit interest in the album during it's release, high-quality photos for press/media consistent with album branding, video to coincide with album premiere, website updated to align with album branding/artwork, and manufacturing of 1500 CDs is $6,500. Anything we're able to raise beyond $6,500 will go towards further creative content and merchandise.
Total funds already in place = $13,500 of $20,000 total budget. The remaining costs of $6,500 break down like this:
$1,500 (of $1,500) - CD manufacturing
$1,000 (of $5,000) - videos
$1,000 (of $1,000) - photos
$1,000 (of $4,000) - radio
$500 (of $500) - website
$2500 (of $8,000) - publicist
*Not included: 5% kickstarter fee + 3-5% amazon processing fee.

Risks and challenges
Beyond the inherent risks of the music industry, this is a very low risk project logistically as far as we can tell. We cannot predict how the record will be received overall, but it's a piece of art we very strongly believe in. If it's something you believe in too, we're confident these funds will, at the very least, allow us to help put this record into the world and reach much further than it ever could otherwise.
The album is already recorded and basically ready to be released. We've done our homework. We've spent the past few months building a knowledgeable team of people to facilitate this release, and to reduce any foreseeable risk of the funds not achieving their full potential.
We have a publicist in place who is ready to begin promotion of the release of the album, a radio promoter on board, and release tour booked. We have a finished album and artwork ready for manufacturing, photographer in place ready to take beautiful photos, and a video artist ready to film and create. We've allowed ample time for executing all of these things prior to our Feb. 25 release date. We have every reason to believe that all of these elements can be accomplished competently and by the deadline of our release date, once they're paid for.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
