Don't get Hangry, Part 2

Posted by (Creator)

Good news everyone!

I spoke with the Facilities Manager of the DCC yesterday and got some additional information and clarification. First, there will be  on-site concessions on Friday as well as Saturday as we said in the last update. If they "do well" in regards to sales, they will offer them on Sunday also. We were not asked to put a guarantee down on Friday’s concessions like we did for Saturday.

Since we do have some local restaurants sponsor us, I hope that we can still get some people to go out and support them as well.

But I can’t deny that having access to on-site food which you can also eat on-site in the convention center is a big win for us.

Here is a copy of the menu they provided me:

Assorted 20 oz. Bottled Coke Products....$2.75
20 oz. Bottled Water....$2.75

Hot Items

Soft Pretzels...$3.00
Hot Dogs or Bratwurst...$4.00
**Both Include Choice of Toppings: Chili, Cheese Sauce and Sauerkraut

Assorted Nature Valley and Quaker Granola Bars...$1.50
Assorted Whole Fruit or Fruit Cup...$3.75
Assorted Bagged Chips...$1.50
Assorted Breakfast Pastries..$2.50
Assorted Freshly Baked Cookies or Gourmet Brownies...$1.50

Sandwiches / Wraps ... $5.00 (Ham and Swiss,Turkey Club)

Salads...$6.50 (Sesame Chicken, Chef)

And for even more food news, one of our friends posted this on AcadeCon's Facebook page:

If you're looking for venues with excellent, affordable vegetarian options within walking distance: Blind Bob's (Lunch and Dinner), Carmen's Bistro (Lunch Friday Only), Oregon Express (Lunch and Dinner) (Artichoke sub is to die for), Trolley Stop (Lunch, 4-7pm $5 appetizers).

If you want to drive just a bit, Butter Cafe is a short distance away on Brown Street, and is a vegan restaurant.

All the restaurants downtown will be fairly busy Friday during the lunch hour.

And now for some other important information.

The DCC is a non-smoking venue but you may smoke outside of the venue on the curb. I would ask that you please do not smoke directly in front of the doors though. Be courteous to those who don’t smoke having to walk through it to enter and exit.

We have paid for 24-hour security so that games go ran round the clock. Officially we close at 11 PM each night, but the room is open 24/7. However, the building will be locked at midnight. If you wish to go out for food or smoke break after that time you’ll have to locate the security guard to be let out. If you want back in, you’ll need to ring the buzzer and wait for security to come back and open the door.

We have 2 sets of bathrooms adjacent or connected to our main gaming room (room 101, downstairs) and there is another set on the 2nd floor near the You Too Can Cthulhu room (room 206) but after midnight the rooms upstairs will be locked until 7:00 AM the next day.

Lastly, parking. If you are staying in the hotel you can get your parking validated. If not, the max fee per day is $6.00. The downtown metered parking spaces are free on Saturday & Sunday.

We’re now just 9 days away from kick off.   We have at least 1 more update to go – our prize list. We hope to have that finalized this week and will update over the weekend.

See you soon!
