With AcadeCon, we at The RPG Academy are establishing a new regional tabletop gaming convention in southern Ohio. This year it will be in Oxford, Ohio which is just north of Cincinnati. AcadeCon's primary focus is on tabletop role playing games, but also includes board and card games.
We have had the extreme fortune of building a wonderful community of gamers that listen to our podcast and play games with us. More than anything, we thrive on interacting with our listeners and fans. This is the true purpose of AcadeCon.
AcadeCon 2015 is our third annual gaming convention. We've hosted two successful cons, but they have been invite-only due to space limitations. This year, we are taking AcadeCon out into the wild and opening the doors to the public this November 13th, 14th, and 15th.
AcadeCon is specifically designed to be a small, non-traditional convention. We are not trying (nor do we want to) compete with or replace the huge conventions that attract a national audience. At our convention, you're going to get access to 24-hour gaming, a better chance to play in games and spend time with special guests, and time to hang out with some of the best gamers in the world - the fans of our show!
Whether you are one of our listeners, are interested in meeting and playing with some of our special guests, or just found us by accident, we hope you'll consider attending our convention or simply donating to the cause.
Our only goal this year is to have fun. We are not making a profit from this convention. All funds received will go towards improving the quality of this event and preparing for a bigger and better convention in 2016.
When the campaign is fully funded, we will be able to hold our event without losing any money. But at The RPG Academy, we always like to surpass our minimum plans. So please, take a look at the Stretch Goals below and check out our backer rewards. Also, we've included links to some of our favorite episodes of the podcast if you would like to hear what we're all about.
But, more than anything, remember to play more games and follow our motto: If you're having fun, you're doing it right!

Risks and challenges
At this point, the biggest risk is that we lose money. We've already paid for the location and our rooms. So no matter what, we are going to have the event, but if we can't sell enough tickets to hit our minimum, it will revert to an invite-only convention and cause us to go deep into our own pockets, making it prohibitive for us to do it again next year.
Beyond that, we are having the event in Southern Ohio in November. We can't control the weather so there may be a chance that people coming from out of town may have difficulty getting there or back. We are not responsible for any travel arrangements, costs, or difficulties.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
