Hello Lame Drivers supporters!

Our debut LP, Chosen Era, is here!

We have 300 yellow vinyl copies, thanks to you. You’re the first to hear the news, and you are going to be the first to get them.

We know it's been a long time coming. Various factors led things to take a lot longer than expected, but the LP would never have existed at all without you. We’re really excited about this record, and grateful to you for making it possible.

*** If you’re getting an LP, and your address has changed since the Flexi-Book release, please send me a message (click here) with your new address by Friday.

The LP is called Chosen Era. It was recorded by us, Matt Tong, and Travis Harrison, and mastered by Jamal Ruhe. It’ll be out Oct 9th in collaboration with Bleeding Gold Records. Also available on CD from Jigsaw Records with special bonus tracks.

For those in the NYC area, we’ve got a release show Thursday Oct 8th at Shea Stadium with The Woolen Men (Woodsist / PDX), EZTV (Captured Tracks) and Gingerlys. For those who live elsewhere, we are about to announce a little tour.

Soon you will receive LP + bonus mp3's in a private update. And for more updates, stay tuned to our blog, fb, tweets and/or email list.

Thank you for believing in Lame Drivers.

Debut LP is mastered + new tracks I’m Ready + Outlaw For A Day

Hey Lame Drivers!

Our debut album is mastered! It’s been a much longer trip than we originally expected, with some traffic and detours along the way. Joe shot an interview with the POTUS, Jeff’s been kicking ass with Piehole (catch him performing in Ft Greene for one more week!), and Jason made a JavaScript audio library, among other things.

Meanwhile we re-recorded some songs, remixed some tracks with Matt Tong and Travis Harrison, recorded new songs in the rad town basement, swapped out some old songs for some new songs, and in the end we totally changed the tracklist from what we had originally planned.

We finished mastering earlier this month with Jamal Ruhe, and we’re so happy with how things are sounding. It’s the best record we’ve ever made. But we apologize for the delay and the radio silence as this project took some unexpected turns. We are actively working towards a self-release, we’ll have more details to share with you soon, and we’re so grateful to you for making this possible.

But first, we wanna share two new songs from two rad compilations:

“I’m Ready” (download) is on Serious Rockers, an Unblinking Ear Mixtape.

“Outlaw For A Day” (download) is on Without A Trace, from Mirror Universe Tapes & Serenity Now Tapes. This one will also be on the LP.

Both tracks were recorded and mixed by us in the basement during the past few months.

Both compilations are celebrating their releases today. Serious Rockers has a party in NJ, and Mirror Universe is featuring our track on their bandcamp. Get the comps!

More music soon, including the debut LP. You’ll be the first to hear. Thank you for your support!

Flexi-Books Shipped!

Posted by Jason Sigal (Creator)

Back from the PO, our fingers are still caked in paint as we write to you...

300 Flexi-Books arrived at Jason's apartment on Wednesday, which happened to be his birthday. It's a gift that you helped make possible and we are excited to give back to you! We immediately set about inspecting each one, and this time almost all of them made the cut! So we cracked open the spray paint (video) and formed an assembly line in the yard for bags, stickers and download code inserts.

We can't wait to see what kind of response they get on our upcoming tour (kicks off tomorrow!). But before we leave, we wanted to mail out a big batch to everyone who pre-ordered a Flexi thru Kickstarter. Many of you are also getting hand-painted T-Shirts (video) made with actual tar from the roads we are about to travel.

This is a very unique release—a book you can play on your turntable! We can't thank you enough for making it possible, and it wouldn't have been possible without our pressing plant, Pirate's Press who worked with us to pull off our weird vision and continued to make adjustments until every book met our standards. See the bottom of this email for some tips for optimal flexi-play.

We're still working on our album, but in the meantime wanted to share secret links to stream/download our side of the upcoming split 7" with the Woolen Men on Sleeping Giant Glossolalia. We also want to share live versions of three new songs from our WKDU session earlier this month—it's super raw and we like how it sounds. Many thanks to host/engineer Adam of The Frequency and Trixie / Idle Noise for bringing us by their award-winning radio station!

FLEXI-PLAY TIPS

Since this is a unique format, it may not be immediately obvious how to play your Flexi-Book. Fold the entire book to the page you want to play (you should see color art beneath the grooves of the clear flexi). Lay it flat on the platter, and it should play perfectly on any standard turntable at 33RPM. Some turntables may require extra care. For example, if your turntable platter is not large enough to support the whole surface area of this flexible 7" square, it will take some balancing—try adding an extra weight in the center to hold it flat. If you encounter any other issues, please let us know—we want to make sure everyone's Flexi-Book experience is optimal.
